3 Count by Stephen Ashfield:

A Summrslam without title matches for the  IC, Women’s, Cruiserweight and WWE Tag Titles?  What is Vince thinking of these days?

The live presentation of Heat turned out to be a total disaster. Just what was happening with the sound?  Ok at times it’s good not being able to hear Al Snow and Coach but we didn’t even get any commentary for the Cruiserweight title match.

Watching the Summerslam ad with Brock getting rid of the shark (Vince in a few months time?) made me wonder just when did they decide to turn him heel?  The way he’s been behaving lately I’d want the shark to win every time!

Only one match on Heat, unless you include Matt Hardy’s forfeit over Zach.  Mysterio defends his belt against Shannon Moore in a virtual squash.  Wonder what Ultimo Dragon’s thinking about life in WWE?  And just when will Kidman finally turn heel and give the cruiserweight division a bit of life?

Anyway sound problems sorted and Summerslam finally begins and predictably it’s The Dudleys up first challenging La Resistance for the World Tag Team Titles. Strange, there must only be about three tag teams in the whole world at the moment because there seems to be very few teams on Raw at the moment.  At times this was a squash for the Dudleys which of course meant La Resistance had something up their non-existent sleeves.  Rob Conway is a photographer this week and interferes causing La Resistance to keep the belts.  Not a bad opener but this feud is going on and on.

Backstage Christian moans at Eric about not being on the card, you moan Christian, for once you have a valid reason.  He can’t even help Eric, he already has a back-up plan and will tell us what really happened between him and Linda, as if any of us actually care!

Undertaker v A-Waste of Space next and with Sable accompanying the hairy one, you can guess Steph is somewhere around.  We get some old school from Undi and of course his bad ribs are attacked by A-razor needed   but the match never really came alive.  Undi wins with a chokeslam, Sable tries it on with him and out comes Steph for a quick cat fight.  Not very impressive.

Two dodgy matches and now it’s time for the non-wrestlers to take centre stage.  Logic has it that Kane would interfere in this one. Bischoff brags about what he did with Linda, still don’t care.  Then comes the big surprise as Coach turns heel and attacks Shane.  Good move taking off  JR and King’s mics  but why did it have to be another non-wrestler who has to interfere?  Austin comes out and thanks to Shane pushing them, the provoking law comes into play.  But are Coach and Bischoff WWE superstars?    Shane fights back and the Spanish announcing team lose their tables again.  McMahon wins the match but no sign of Kane!

Wrestlemania recall was Michaels pinning Bret to win the title, bet that pleases the best there ever was….   Will Bret be at Wrestlemania XX?

Backstage Flair talks to Orton about the Elimination Chamber,  “What if?” asks Orton. Yeah what if Orton actually turned on HHH, now that would wake us up.

US Title match next and boy was this a disappointment. It was way too short It didn’t really push the storyline any further either Guerrero keeps the belt and no one even dented his car.

Next up, Angle defends against Lesnar and this really was the match of the night. Thankfully Vince kept his interference to the minimum as  the pair put on a great but rather predictable match.  Finally Angle makes Lesnar tap which really was the wrong decision.  The past few weeks have been spent turning Lesnar back into a monster heel, what does this do to him now?

Kane v RVD will only be remembered for Kane’s cock up as he lost his balance on the turnbuckle. RVD was never going to win this  and why the hell didn’t Shane interfere?

Main event time and it takes ages to get the wrestlers in the chamber.  Triple H obviously wasn’t fit to perform and when it was finally time for him to wrestle, Michaels kicks him back into his chamber where he spends most of the match.  Not a massive amount of blood, no real feuds created and just a stepping stone for the Triple H v Goldberg match at Unforgiven.

Not a fantastic card it has to be said. Match of the night, definitely Angle v Lesnar, biggest disappointment  was the US Title match and lots of talent being left out completely for no apparent reason.
