APPEARANCE
Ryuji wears a white DKNY t-shirt and oversized blue dungarees, unlaced sneakers and a New York Yankees baseball cap (worn backwards). Ryuji has cropped bleached blonde hair and matching goatee to compliment the smudged, temporary tattoos on his arms and his clip-on earrings.
GIMMICK A Japanese "American Ghetto Gang Banger" wannabe! BACKGROUND If one word could sum up Ryuji's upbringing in Japan, it would quite simply be "Discipline". Ryuji's childhood was all about work and sacrifice. Perhaps that would explain Ryuji's rebellious nature and fixation with the United States, a country where people were seemingly free to anything they wanted. Ryuji idolised everything American but he seemed particularly drawn to its darker attractions. Ryuji became obsessed with America's "Gang Culture"; the music, the clothes and the language of the ghetto. Unfortunately for Ryuji, he didn't quite get it. He dressed in slightly the wrong way. He didn't quite listen to the right music. He certainly didn't master the urban gang jargon of the street. In Japan, these little mistakes weren't apparent. As soon as Ryuji moved to the United States to further the wrestling career he'd started in Japan as a pro wrestler, the little mistakes were for all to see. Ryuji became something of a joke, a cute novelty: a Japanese Home Boy, an Oriental gang banger. Perhaps the worst part is that Ryuji doesn't see or hear the laughter directed at him. In his own mind, Ryuji is "All Dat" and a whole lot more: the coolest "gangsta in the hood". Perhaps one day Ryuji will stop deluding himself. Until then, at least in his mind, he will remain "Ghetto Fabulous". |
