“What do you mean you’re not coming home!? You can’t leave me to run the office myself!!” Erin screams through the phone as Tommy pulls his own away from his ear. “Renee is already on her way back, but I need to stay with Shawn, Evan, and Jenny for now. Things are progressing out here... you saw what that fucker did on Saturday. You sent me out here to warn them. I’m here now. I can’t walk away from this now. You should have known that from when we set out to expose Starr!” Tommy’s brow furrows.
“Of course! Jenny this, Jenny that! I bought a car for Jenny! These are business decisions you should talk about with your partner before you make them! Not only that, Tommy, I’m your girlfriend! You think I want to hear about you spending all this time with another woman?! How about this, Tommy: you should go fuck Jenny, because when you get home, you’re not getting it from me!”
"She's right, Tommy.... These kind of decisions can fuck you... but that's why you don't fuck your partner: because she can fuck you right back, and not the way you want." Jenny runs a finger under his chin and boops his nose before smiling and walking out.
Evan and Shawn, sitting at the table, both erupt in laughter and Tommy takes the phone off speaker, scowling at them.
“You know I can’t just walk away from this now, babe!” Tommy says in hushed tones, walking into the bathroom and shutting the door behind him. “You put me on this path, and now you’re pissed that I plan on seeing it through?”
“I didn’t put you on any path Thomas!” Tommy cringes at the sound of his name, knowing just how angry she was now. “I gave you information, and you got up and ran off like some kinda hero! You're not a hero... your body is broken from the last time you tried to be! I lost Kevin, I don’t want to lose you now too!” Erin yells into the phone fighting back tears. “I have to go... UPS is here and needs me to sign. Don’t think this conversation is over, because it’s not.”
“Listen, I lov-” the phone goes dead in Tommy’s ear. “...you” he finishes awkwardly, before shaking his head and releasing a heavy sigh.
Tommy walks out of the bathroom and back into the kitchen, where Shawn and Evan are still sitting playing cards at the table. “Hey Tommy,” Shawn calls out snarkily, “you rented this whole airBnB out for us, but I’ve got one question: Why does Jenny get the master, and you get the other room with the queen, while me and Evan are stuck in a room together with two twins?” He glances sharply at Evan, and the two chuckle.
Tommy’s face turns bright red and his mouth twists. “You wanna fucking go there, Shawn!? Jenny is an established superstar. The only champion signed to RMI! What the fuck have you done, besides lose your debut match? Yeah, you went and took the HMW belt, but only held it for, what... two days!? Come talk to me again when you can hold a belt for longer than a month.” Tommy’s glare snaps to Evan. “How about you? You got something to say?” Evan shakes his head and looks down at the cards in his hand, avoiding eye contact with his now fuming friend. “I fold,” he says, laying his cards on the table. Shawn, clearly upset by Tommy’s comments, goes to speak up but is stopped by Tommy before anything can come out of his mouth. “I...I.. have to go home. Evan, the queen bed is yours. Now you don’t have to share a room. Is that better for you asshat!? Tommy looks at Shawn, who just looks down at the table. Tommy pulls his wallet out of his back pocket and places an RMI credit card on the table in front of Evan. “Behave yourselves. And don’t tell Jenny I left the card with you, Evan. I’ll meet you at Warfare.”
Tommy quickly packs his things, books a flight back to Philly, and several hours later, walks through the door at RMI. Renee jumps out of her seat, dropping her phone. From the speaker, Shawn’s voice can be heard. “What was that? Everything okay?” Tommy points at her scoldingly and shakes his finger. “It’s fine,Shawn...Goodbye Shawn.” Looking her in the face now, “Say goodbye, hang up, and do your job.” She nods and picks up the phone as Tommy walks down the hall. Renee whispers, as Tommy reaches the door to Erins office. “Great, they are both on the warpath... Erin’s been a monster all morning.”
Tommy knocks on the door to Erins office. “What Renee!? I told you not to bother me.
