Some women were born for greatness. These women hold so much talent and skill that it seems impossible to believe they are real. But they are. Jami recently conducted an interview with one such lady. She goes by the name of Foxy Lady.

In-Ring Name?
Lexie Fyfe "the Foxy Lady"
Location?
I just moved to Largo, FL but I originally trained in
North Carolina.
What Federation are you currently in?
I work for several indie groups across the country.
I'm not signed to anyone in particular.
I noticed on your website that you had appeared in numerous federations, what was your favorite appearance?
My favorite show so far has got to be the show I did
in Bosnia. We went overseas on a month long military
base tour. We toured Germany, England, Spain, Italy,
Hungary and Bosnia. The base in Bosnia was so
friendly and grateful to us for coming to give them a
piece of home. I'll never forget it. I wrestled
Wendi Richter and we beat the crap out of each other.
It was an awesome experience.
When did you start wrestling?
I started training in April of 1995 and had my first
match in August 1995. It was a six-man tag. Brandi
Wine and I were feuding and they put us in quite a few
tag matches until we were more comfortable.
What school did you train at (or who trained you)?
I originally trained with Ken Spence in Winston-Salem,
NC. I was there for around 1 1/2 years. I learned a
lot of old school, mat and chain wrestling there. I
became restless and wanted to learn new things. I met
Matt and Jeff Hardy at a show and Matt invited me down
to the OMEGA camp in Vass, NC. The guys down there
beat me black and blue but I learned a lot especially
about storylines.
I noticed on your website you mentioned training at the OMEGA camp in Vass, NC. The OMEGA camp has churned out some great stars in both the WWE and Indy Feds, can you tell us more about it? Is it still open and churning out
more stars?
It was basically play time every Sunday although we
did learn a lot. We met every Sunday at the ring and
would work on whatever we wanted to learn that week.
After training, we would all watch Sunday Nite Heat or
a pay-per-view. Sometimes they would practice during
the week also but Sundays were a given. The ring we
trained in is long gone but some of the guys still
work out in the area.
What's your schedule like?
I recently took some time off for my move to Florida
but usually I wrestle 5-8 times a month. It used to
be more but I'm working another job outside of
wrestling right now. It does vary though. Some
months I do a lot more but usually never less than 5
times. I train in the gym a lot too. Also, now that
I've moved, there are a lot of wrestling schools in
the area that I'd like to look into. I'd like to
learn some new moves and improve on some others.
Who are some of your favorite people to work with?
Some of my most hated opponents are also the ones I
love to have matches against. Mighty Heidi always is
fun to work against. She gets the crowd so riled up!
Macaela Mercedes and I are really hard on each other.
We both work a little stiff (especially our chops!)
and we take it out on each other in the ring. Two of
my three black eyes have been courtesy of MM.
Is there any kind of match you wouldn't do (like a lingerie match, bikini match, jello match)?
I love to wrestle but wouldn't want to do anything
that I feel is demeaning in any way. I would feel
ridiculous trying to wrestle in lingerie and wouldn't
be able to concentrate on the moves for fear that I
would be flashing the audience. Yes, I realize that
that's what most of the guys are watching those types
of matches for but.... I think they can serve a
purpose in a way when you use two valets who aren't
really supposed to be wrestling but let the women
wrestlers really wrestle.
What titles have you won or helped others win?
I've held quite a few indie belts over the years. I
was the PGWA (Pro-Girls Wrestling Association) Ladies
Champ from April of 2001 to June of 2002. I defended
it all over the States. Leilani Kai beat me for it.
Currently, I am Impact Zone Wrestling's Ladies Champ
(they are in Arizona) and I have a title defense
against Erica Porter (formally Jungle Grrrl from WOW)
on Jan 11th in Globe, AZ.
Who is the strongest woman you've seen in the Indy's (mic skills plus in ring skills)?
There are a couple that come immediately to mind.
Macaela Mercedes will definitely make a name for
herself. Brandi Alexander has great skills. Riptide
has just returned from a serious injury and I think
we'll see a lot from her. Little Jeanne is really
good...I could go on but. There are a lot more ladies
out there now than when I was breaking in. Not all of
them are great, in fact, there are only a handful that
are good. Those are the ones that I like to work. I
do enjoy working with the newer girls though because
you never know when one of them will really have "it."
Who is the strongest man you've seen in the Indy's (mic skill plus in ring skills)?
I'm going to name an organization for this one.
Impact Zone Wrestling in Arizona has the most solid
trainees I've seen in a long time. The head trainer
is Steve Islas aka Navajo Warrior and he's a tough
trainer but he gets the best out of his students.
He's got the skills himself and his students learn
them fast.
What's it like working in the Indy's?
It can be very demanding. When I was wrestling more
full time, I was on the road for most of the week.
That part is the same as being part of WWE but we
usually drive to our shows and, of course, get paid a
lot less. I love the fact that I get to meet with the
fans though and there is more interaction between
wrestlers and fans at indie shows.
The following questions are asking for your opinion on the WWE product, since that is what most people get to see.
Who are you favorite WWE Male wrestlers?
I like a lot of the male WWE wrestlers. I don't
always like their storylines or characters but their
wrestling is usually great. The cruiser weight
division right now is superb.
Who are you favorite WWE Female Wrestlers?
I just like it when they have a legit ladies match.
I know most of the ladies up there so it's hard to say
who my favorite is.
With the current storylines focusing on HLA and matches like lingerie pillow fights, how do you think the women wrestlers could move past that and put the focus back on their in-ring skills? Do you think this focus on T&A will hinder other women's, like yourself, chances to be taken seriously?
I think in the past it did affect our chances to be
taken seriously. A couple of years ago, I had several
shows cancel the ladies matches because of people
thinking it would be like it was portrayed on tv.
It's gotten a lot better now and they are getting to
do a lot of legit matches so I think it's on the right
track.
Do you think women should get more belts (Like their
own tag team belts)?
It would make it more interesting but they would
need to bring in more ladies. Hey, that's a great
idea!!
Do you think the WWE should take a page from the Indy's and let the women wrestle the men more?
No. I've never been a big fan of intergender
matches. I have done them and there are ways to make
them realistic and entertaining but they need to be
done sparingly. Mixed tags work well I think.
Do you think any of today's wrestlers (indy or WWE) are going to be legends in years to come?
Sure, some of them are already showing signs of that.
HHH, Stone Cold, the Rock, Kurt Angle...
If you could change one thing about the WWE product,
what would it be and why?
I'd like to see more wrestling and less storylines
but, hey, I'm a mark for wrestling skills not writers
so....
Do you have any advice for others trying to break into the business?
Train hard in the gym and ring. Stay in school- high
school or college. No matter where this career takes
you, you will stop wrestling one day and it's nice to
have something to fall back on. I know that sounds
like a cliche but it's true.
