April 2nd, 2002

I damn near forgot to get this thing up this week. I am typing this weeks commentary very late Tuesday night. I have no idea what effect my tiredness will have on my typing, but I'm also not in the mood to go over it and look for spelling mistakes. Could be interesting.

I have learned a little more about the shows in Manitoba and Ontario this month. So here's the run down of what I know now. The shows are being put on by Don "Cyrus", "The Jackal", "The Natural" Callis and a Winnipeg wrestling promoter. I believe the first show is in Thunder Bay, Ontario, on Thursday the 25th of this month, then the other two shows are in and around Winnipeg Manitoba within the next 3 days after the first one. From what I figure so far, myself and the Chemical Cowboys will be leaving Calgary on the 23rd, then heading to Winnipeg for a little rest then off to Thunder Bay. I also just found out that I am booked to wrestle a guy by the name of Crash Crimson, I don;t have any clue who he is, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything. I'm sure the matches will be good. I have no idea how long it will take, but from what I can gather this way very well be my longest roadtrip since 1998 when myself and Chance Beckett packed up a 1984 AMC Eagle and drove 68 hours to Tampa Florida. I personally love driving across the country and seeing places I have never seen. The antics and shenanigans that are bound to happen make every hour stuck in a moving vehicle well worth it. It's been a couple months since I have had to travel to some shows, and I really miss it.

Friday was once again another Stampede Wrestling show at the always loevely Ogden Legion in Calgary. I once again had no idea who I was going to wrestle, but once I got to the building, I found out I would be in a handicap match against Randy and Patrick Myers. Now, I have only been in maybe 5 handicap matches in the 5 years and over 500 matches I have had. Being as I grew up watching the likes of Andre the Giant, King Kong Bundy and other notorious "big men", I figure my low number of handicap matches is a very odd thing. I remember sitting down with a big bowl of Cheerios and seeing Bundy and Andre kill 2 and sometimes 3 or more wrestlers at a time every Saturday morning on WWF Saturday morning Superstars. I just figured big guys always had to fight two guys at a time. Well, I guess times change. I don't hink I have to tell you what happened in the match, I'll just say it involved a few kicks and some dropping of the Myers boys on their heads until I won. While I'm on the topic....Has anyone ever seen the 2 guys in a handicap match actually win? I'm not talking about the times that a guys tag team partner didn't show up. I want to know if there has ever been a scheduled handicap match where the 2 guys won. Somebody drop me an e-mail if you remember it happening.

On to this weeks picture, or as it has been lately...pictures of the week. This week we go back to the late summer of 2001 while myself and Tony Kozina were out on a tour of the US east coast. We met up with the New Heavenly Bodies in Pottstown PA, and travelled with them for the next 5 days. I can honestly say, I have never had more fun travelling than with the Bodies and Tony. This first picture is myself and The Heavenly Bodies out in front of WWF headquarters in Stamford, CT.

This next picture is from the exact same spot about 30 seconds later. That's me with "Tornado" Tony Kozina.

There was something a little upsetting about the tour that I remember clearly. I remember driving through New York and noticing the World Trade Center buildings in the distance. I also remeber talking with Vito DeNucci about how much bigger and more impressive they looked in person. I consider myself a lucky person, being as I actually got the chance to see the twin towers before the horrible attack less than 2 months after we were there. Sure brings the reality of life into perspective.

I have been trying to get my tax crap in order lately. It's a good thing I keep a record of every match I wrestle, along with as many receipts as I can remember to keep. I am getting at the taxes a little late this year, but better late than never. There's my piece of advice for any new wrestlers out there. Keep a record of all the money you make wrestling along with all your receipts. It's always a good idea to claim your wrestling income on your taxes, just in case somebody tries to mess with you somewhere down the road, and in this business you can be guaranteed that somebody will. Remember to watch your own back before anyone elses. It's always nice to help people out, but will they be standing in line with you when you are waiting to pay your bills? I think not. The last thing anyone needs is to have the government breathing down your neck.

I went and checked out the new movie Panic Room last week. I figured it would be a thiller from start to finish, but was suprised to find myself laughing alot more than expected. I didn't mind the movie, but when I was expecting a thiller, I have to admit I was a bit let down. Still, I think it's worth going to check out of you have a few spare bucks lying around. I have heard both good and bad things about The Scorpion King, thst's supposed ot be coming out in a couple weeks. I have nothing to lose going to see it, especially thanks to the always somewhat amusing Johnn Devine, who knows a guy that gets us into the shows for free. I'll be going to check it out next week. With all the hype and that great Godsmack song "I Stand Alone", it damn well better be a good movie.

I turned on the TV with full intentions of watching RAW recently. This is a big step for me since I really don;t watch anything but the Pay Per Views. I watched about 20 minutes of it then started watching an old Tom Hanks movie, man he has always been funny. I never even saw the WWF ring in 20 minutes. I am all for promos and mic work, but no view of the ring in almost half an hour??? Boy have times EVER changed.

I am working on trying to put together another little east coast US tour for late this summer. As I figure out the important details, I'll try to keep everyone updated so they can call in sick to work and check out some wrestling. Hopefully I can make it back down to PWF to defend the PWF Extreme Title I won last year, but have never defended in the USA.

Well, I think that pretty much sums it up for this week, I am basically in a coma right now, my eyes are doing funny things. I think that means it's time to sleep.

So, Until next time.....Chicks Dig Scars, new top 10 coming VERY soon, keep yopur receipts and pay your taxes, free movies are good and make sure to let me know about the handicap match thing.
