Tully Blanchard is one of the biggest legends in professional wrestling, as one of the original members of The Four Horsemen, Blanchards legacy in the business is secure.

Tully is a second generation wrestler, his father Joe Blanchard was a big star in Texas in the 50's and 60's. Tully made his pro debut in 1976 after playing college football as a quarterback at West Texas State University. Tully spent his first few years in the sport wrestling in the Southwest Championship Wrestling promotion out of San Antonio,Texas ran by his father. He would win the heavyweight title there numerous times as well as form his first tag team partnership with Gino Hernandez as the Dynamic Duo, one of the best tag teams in the early 80's, winning the Southwest Tag Titles numerous times.

After the promotion folded in early 1984, Blanchard briefly wrestled in the Central States area, before arriving in the Mid Atlantic area, where he would make his name. He had Baby Doll as his valet who he called his "Perfect Ten". He became one of the top heels in the company, beating Mark Youngblood for the NWA TV Title in April 1984, and defending it often with Baby Doll's contasnt interference. He would trade the TV Title back and forth with the "American Dream" Dusty Rhodes in 1985, Rhodes became one of Tully's biggest rivals.

Then in July of 1985 Tully with Baby Doll's help beat Magnium T.A for the United States Title. They had a brutal feud that ended at Starrcade'85 when Magnium defeated Tully to regain the title in a steel cage "I Quit" match, which was one of the most brutal match and is still rememberd 20 years later

After that match Tully dumped Baby Doll as his valet and picked James J.Dillion as his manager, and in March of 1986 he defeated Dusty Rhodes for the NWA National Title. Months later Blanchard joined the Four Horsemen along with Ric Flair and Arn & Ole Anderson. The Horsemen became the most dominate group of heels in the NWA. In the summer of 1986 Blanchard feuded with Ronnie Garvin in several taped fist matches.

In 1987 Tully would team with fellow Horsemen Arn Anderson and in September of that year they defeated the Rock n Roll Express for the NWA World Tag Titles. At the first Clash of Champions in March of 1988 they lost the belts to Lex Luger & Barry Windham but three weeks later in April, Arn & Tully won the belts back when Windham betrayed Luger and joined the Four Horesemen. In September of 1988 Arn and Tully lost the belts to the Midnight Express.

Then shocklingly they left the NWA and debuted in the WWF just a few months later, managed by Bobby Heenan they were called the BrianBusters. There personas were pretty muched unchanged, as well as their names considering at the time the WWF had a history of changing names of established wrestlers and treated as new comers. Arn and Tully would first feud with the Rockers in the first half of 1989 but in July of that year they defeated Demolition to win the WWF World Tag Titles, becoming the first tag team ever to win both the NWA and WWF World Tag Team Titles. They lost the belts back to Demolition in October of 1989

Arn and Tully wanted to return to NWA now known as WCW and they gave their notice. However Blanchard was so unhappy with the WWF that he failed a drug test on purpose and was fired. However WCW head Jim Herd heard about Blanchard's failed drug test and refused to sign him to come to WCW. Blanchard would start wrestling in the AWA shortly after that staying with that company untill it went out of business later in 1990.

Blanchard then left wrestling all together. He became a born again christian, and formed his own ministry. Blanchard returned to wrestling at WCW's Slamboree'94 wrestling Terry Funk to a double disqulification. Then he feuded briefly with ECW World Champion Shane Douglas in ECW in early 1995, including an infamous one hour draw that was booed heaveily by the rabid ECW fans as being boring. Blanchard would wreslte occasionaly here and there in several indy groups, including the disaterous Heroes of Wrestling PPV in October of 1999 wrestling Stan Lane in one of the few decent matches on that horrible pay per view.

Today Blanchard still runs his ministry as well as show up at several wrestling conventions. Tully is a legend and one of the greats on the microphone and in the ring.
