Voiceover:The next Glory, Shane Douglas didn't express regret for his actions. He expressed amusement.

From NAWA Glory 5-2-02

Shane Douglas:What happened last night...I regret.

What???

Shane Douglas:Yes...I REGRET THAT I DIDN'T GIVE THAT OLD BASTARD ANOTHER INVERTED PILEDRIVER.

The crowd bursts into a chant of "asshole"

Shane Douglas:You now I couldn't give two craps about what you people think of me. So why don't you do yourselves a favor and shut up while your a head. Lets review the list. Sting was the first. He just doesn't care anymore. I took away something more important than his career. His will to fight and be the best by pinning him in the center of the ring. Next was Big Poppa Pump. Scott Steiner. Yes. I destroyed one of the largest arms in the world. Nerve damage to the elbow. Next was Rick Steiner. The Triple Threat shipped him back to Detroit in pieces. Next was Sid. I snapped his ankle again. He couldn't defeat me because he forgot his scissors.

The Triple Threat bursts out into laughter.

Shane Douglas:Finally. Terry Funk. The last of the dinosaurs. Hit that footage up on the NAWA vision.

We see last night. Shane Douglas hitting the inverted piledriver on Terry Funk.

Shane Douglas:Oh that was a thing of beauty. Show it again.

The footage is replayed again. The Triple Threat are actually laughing at a man getting crippled. How sick can you get.

Shane Douglas:That is greatness. Show it again. This time in slow motion so all these Nevada Nimrods can see the old man's vertabrae compact.

The footage is shown once again.

Shane Douglas:That is so great. This move is going to be forever known as the Franchise Effect. Show it...

Norman Smiley's theme interrupts Shane and out comes the Number One Contender for the NAWA world title. The man who will face the Franchise at Gold Rush. Norman has the microphone.

Norman Smiley:I don't know how you can look yourself in the mirror after what you did. You need to be taught a lesson. Everybody you have gone up against has been either injured or so embarassed that they lost to a jackass like you that they had to take an exhile. So the only person left to teach you a lesson is...me. So we don't even have to wait to Gold Rush. Lets do it tonight.

Shane:Well first of all there is one small problem with that. I got a chipped tooth, a concussian, and a broken finger. So I have orders not to wrestle until I get dental work done and have a few weeks off to clear my head. So I can't wrestle. However I will be cleared to go at Gold Rush so don't worry your, as you British people like to put it, BLOODY head off.

Voiceover:Two weeks later, Norman Smiley vent his thoughts on Shane Douglas in a one on one interview with NAWA announcer, Joey Styles.

Joey Styles:Well, over the past few months Shane Douglas has defeated every challenger for the NAWA world title. But he didn't just defeat him. He started destorying them and adding them to a check list. He has send that you are the final name on that list. How does that make you feel.

Norman:Sick and repulsive. Quite frankly, Shane Douglas is the NAWA world champion on the fact that he knows every trick in the book. He mocked Ric Flair earlier in his career, but Shane Douglas is slowly becoming the thing he used to hate. Shane Douglas is becoming a junior Ric Flair. and what I think is that Shane Douglas has the Triple Threat only to protect his skin. Francine, Chris Candido, and Brian Lee are basically pawns of Shane Douglas and they were made that way by promises of fame and glory. Shane Douglas took this too far however when he injured Terry Funk.

Joey:The injury to Terry Funk, what is the severity of it. When will he be back.

Norman Smiley:Basically we are looking at a crushed C-5 vertabrae, several other severly damaged vertabrae, and a cracked collar bone. As for he can be back, it will be 8 to 12 months, if he is ever back. The chances of Terry Funk being back is slim to none and that drives me to teach Shane Douglas a lesson at Gold Rush.

Voiceover:Tonight can Norman take the NAWA world championship from Shane Douglas and end his reign of terror or will Norman just be another list of the names that Shane Douglas has defeated. The answer shall be revealed soon.

Ding Ding Ding.

Michael Buffer:Lllladies and Gentlemen. Tonight at NAWA Gold Rush. Two men will fight for the NAWA world title. This match is sanctioned by the Sacramento state atheletic commision. Are you Ready. Are you rrrready. and for the thousands in attendance and the millions watching around the world, lllllettssss get ready to rumbbbbblllllllle.

The fireworks go off. "Norman" plays and out comes the challenger. Norman looks ready for anything Shane Douglas will throw at him.

Michael Buffer:First the challenger. From London, England. He is hoping to avenge the injury of his mentor the legendary Terry Funk. Weighing 235 lbs and standing at 6'1" 3/4 he is, Norman Smi-LAYYYYYYYYY.

Norman is in the ring. The crowd is chanting Norman. This is going to be a up hill battle fro his opponent. "Perfect Strangers" by Deep Purple plays. Michael Buffer:His opponent. He is the NAWA world champion. From Pittsburg PA. He hopes to add Norman Smiley to his list of defeated opponents. He is the Franchise, Shane Douglas.

Norman Smiley and Shane Douglas are duking it out.
