Obviously there was hundreds of totally awesome SIW wrestling matches in 2008 and we thank each and every superstar for their efforts. In no particular order, here are 10 matches that stood out the most for us in 2008.
Terror Soule vs Krazy J. for the SIW Championship - Friday Carnage July 25, 2008 [Kansas City, Missouri]
After many years of entertaining SIW fans, Terror Soule finally captured the most valuable championship in the business with a win over Krazy J.
Chris Macavedi vs The Living Dead for the Heavyweight Championship – Assault 2008 January 27, 2008 [Salt Lake City, Utah ]
C-Mac defeated The Living Dead to become a two time heavyweight champion. However The Living Dead went on to win the Assault Rumble to earn a title shot at Wrestlefest.
Champions Rumble - Friday Carnage July 18, 2008 [Phoenix, Arizona]
An innovative rumble match featuring every SIW champion from both brands. Bailey Brown shocked the wrestling world with a huge win.
The Living Dead vs JD Xtreme vs Chris Macavedi – Triple threat for the Heavyweight Championship – Wrestlefest March 25, 2008 [San Francisco, California]
JD Xtreme earned the fans respect by defeating two veterans on the biggest stage in the business to become the new Heavyweight champion
MNB 2008 Trophy Match – Monday Night Brawl March 10, 2008 [Detroit, Michigan]
Natedawg picked up an impressive win over The Living Dead, JD Xtreme & Ashton Daniels to win the 2008 MNB Trophy.
Jill vs Xtina – Steel Cage Match for the SIW Women’s Championship – Rampage May 25, 2008 [Tokyo, Japan]
Jill defeated all odds with a huge win over the future hall of famer Xtina. Would this have been possible without Ragin’ Craig’s interference?
JD Xtreme vs Jace Parker Davidson - Title Unification Match – Road to Glory December 28, 2008 [Las Vegas, Nevada]
Jace and JD delivered one of the best matches of the year. In the end it was JD Xtreme that became the undisputed SIW Champion as the Heavyweight championship and SIW championship were unified.
Submission Challenge – Monday Night Brawl December 1, 2008 [Tacoma, Washington]
Two submission specialists Marquis Laveaux and R.C. Aries battled in classic wrestling submission match. In the end Marquis managed to make Aries tap but we have a funny feeling the war if far from over between these two superstars heading into 2009.
Diva Ladder/Water Match – Summersonic July 27, 2008 [Toronto, Ontario]
The male SIW fans had the time of their life as every SIW diva competed in this one of a kind match with water balloons and super soakers around the ring. Did we forget to mention the divas all wore white t-shirts? Tara Michaels managed to reach to briefcase to earn a SIW women’s title shot.
Evening Gown Match – Monday Night Brawl April 14, 2008 [Seattle, Washington]
No, there were no divas in this match! Thanks to General Manager Titan, Heavyweight Champion JD Xtreme and Natedawg were forced to battle in this non title match. The fans and the rest of the guys in the locker room sure got a kick out of it!
