NAWA Glory 1/5/06

Tonight: Tony Mamaluke and Ron Killings against Raven and Teddy Hart in our feature bout tonight. Also, The Rottweilers and Team 3D will go at it one more time, the NAWA Television Champion Samoa Joe will be in the house, Jerry Lynn is in action, and much more tonight on Glory.

Out comes Larry Sweeney with a smug look on his face, hyping up the big main event. He also adds two matches to the show for Luck of Draw. First, he briefly explains the rules of the Luck of the Draw Match. Twenty NAWA megastars, two start, one enters every two and half minutes, elimination over the top rope, and the winner receives an NAWA World Title Shot. He announces that NAWA megastars are lining up, trying to lock in their spots for this match, but there are only a limited number of spots, so a few of these gentlemen will be out in the cold. Sweeney also says that NAWA International Champion Teddy Hart and NAWA World Champion Miles Stylish will be belt for belt, both championships on the line, which causes a loud round of cheers, as Sweeney says this has more money drawing potential and a good chunk of the Pay Per View profit is going in his pocket, which causes him to receive some heat from the fans. Also, the NAWA Commissioner announces based on the results of last week, Jerry Lynn and Raven will square off in a Last Man Standing Match. Both of these men are already locked in for the Luck of the Draw Match, but Sweeney says they will get a chance to settle their differences before that match takes place.

As for tonight, Sweeney is looking at some of the top talent from around the world to bring in, to add to the NAWA roster and four young competitors will have a tryout tonight, with the winner getting an NAWA contract. Larry Sweeney adds that Matt Harms is coming to the building tonight, most likely to endorse him offically as NAWA Commissioner. Sweeney declares tonight to be a great night.

Winner of the Match Gets an NAWA Contract Brendon Andrews vs. Jack Evans vs. Jay Lethal vs. Colt Cabana

Brendon Andrews is a former MWCW Champion, a belt held by such folks like Sederick Skyhawk, Harry Harris, and Miles Stylish. Jack Evans has been in the NAWA before, competing as part of Teddy Hart's Hart Foundation, the Next Generation. Cabana and Lethal are independent stars, looking to make an impact. All four men bust their asses in an attempt to impress the fans in what is their big break and to earn that NAWA contract. Andrews hits a moonsault from the top rope to Evans on the floor at one more. Evans tops that moments later with a twisting pescado onto all three men. Lethal and Andrews wiped each other out, leaving Cabana and Evans in the ring to duke it out. Power Bomb from Cabana is reversed into a rana from Evan for a two count. Bodyscissors into an Ace Crusher and Evans goes up top but misses the Evans Corkscrew. This allows Cabana to deliver a double underhook backbreaker into a Boston Crab. Evans struggles but has nowhere to go so he is forced to submit, giving Cabana the win and the NAWA contract.

Four Corners Match: Colt Cabana defeated Brendon Andrews, Jack Evans and Jay Lethal when Cabana made J. Evans submit to a Boston crab in 0:08:37. Rating: ***

Danielson grabs the microphone, taking the NAWA Cruserweight Title, and reminding us that he's been champion for eleven months. He wants opponents and says people will suffer if he doesn't get them. He talks about how last week he brutalized Dominic Santiago and he's crawled back to his little independent group. Danielson is willing to put the title on the line against any cruiserweight in the back. This is their chance of a lifetime. Danielson also mentions he's in Luck of the Draw and he will win Luck of the Draw, before going for the big belt at Reality Check. Backstage:

Raven is backstage, leaning by some pipes, saying how success is not measured by one action, but rather a cumilination of many actions, a pure masterpiece. Raven talks about sins, how they are merely a byproduct of all of humanity. His opponent in the Last Man Standing Match at Luck of the Draw, Jerry Lynn is guilty of many sins. His wrath towards his lack of success of becoming NAWA World Champion crippled Lynn's focus and forced him to be unable to seek a clear path to the gold. He envies those such as Miles Stylish who has attained what he has fallen short because of his wrath. Raven must destroy Jerry Lynn at Luck of the Draw, to purge him of those sins, before they infect the rest of the company, but he might already be too late. Raven shifts his focus to the Luck of the Draw Match, saying that twenty other NAWA competitors are united by the sin of greed, a chance to attain the gold, and sacrifice everything to do so. Raven admits that he has entered the match, willing to be a martyr to cleanse the entire New Age Wrestling Alliance. He will win the Luck of the Draw Match, not because he has to, but because he needs to and for similiar reasons, Raven has to capture the NAWA World Title, for the good of everything or it will collapse, with all those infected by sin to destroy what remains of the company. Raven says the belt is coming back to him. So it is written, so it shall come to pass, quoth the Raven, nevermore.

Anderson. Joe looks like an angry bull in the center of the ring, staring at Skyhawk, motioning him to come get some. Skyhawk says the belt will be coming back to Sederick Skyhawk productions and C.W. Low-Ki and Homicide defeated Team 3D (Brother Devon and Brother Ray) when Homicide defeated Brother Ray by disqualification in 0:10:42. Rating: ** 3/4

To say Team 3D are pissed would be understating the solution. Smokes looks pleased, even though Low-Ki doesn't look too thrilled about getting blasted in the face with the blackjack. Team 3D go after the referee who wisely bails, as the Rottweilers go to the back with the victory. After getting swindled out of their NAWA World Tag Team Title Shot at Luck of Draw and this miscarriage of justice tonight, Team 3D have not been having a good last couple of weeks. No doubt they are a team to be watching in the next couple of weeks.

We are back and the crowd is on their feet as the NAWA Owner Matt Harms makes his way out. He rarely makes any televised appearences but when he does, its quite eventful. Harms thanks the fans for making the last four years of the New Age Wrestling Alliance a success and says nothing that they achieved could be possible without them. The fans give him a cheap heat pop, and Harms shifts gears to the NAWA Commissioner Larry Sweeney! Sweeney earned that spot by winning a match back at StarClash 05 and the NAWA Board of Directors, citing a precendent established in the Ricky Steamboat/Disco Inferno match, back at StarClash 02, has contested this decision. An unqualified individual could become NAWA commissioner by simply winning a match. In fact, there have only been two NAWA Commissioners that have been approved, that being Ricky Steamboat and New Jack. Disco Inferno's run as NAWA Commissioner was not officially sanctioned and only held up because ex-Commissioner Steamboat requested it. As for Sweeney, Harms is going to call him out right now.

Sweeney walks down to the ring, with a smug look on his face, complimenting Harms on his fine choice of attire tonight and saying that surely a business man like Mr. Harms would see the benefit of having someone like Larry Sweeny as NAWA Commissioner as opposed to New Jack. Sweeney says at least half of the lockerroom, maybe more, would be upset if New Jack was reinistated as NAWA Commissioner. Harms says that New Jack is no longer Commissioner but Larry Sweeney hasn't been approved either. Sweeney protests, saying that he dropped the lawsuit, those were the terms of that and Harms says he isn't Commissioner yet, offering Sweeney a contract to make things official, for all the benefits and perks of becoming NAWA Commissioner, including an increased bonus of salary. Sweeney of course accepts that, hastily signing the contract, not wanting it to be retracted.

Harms says that contract states that Sweeney will uphold the office of NAWA Commissioner and be unbiased with his dealings with NAWA competitors. So far, he has toed that line but barely. He put his men in matches that could have been favorable but since he did not skew the odds and the playing field remained level, Harms can't fire Sweeney. Sweeney nods but Harms cauctions him that he better keep on the straight and narrow. Sweeney might be NAWA Commissioner, but Matt Harms is the owner of the company and the final decisions of who to hire and fire rests with him. Sweeney can make any match he wants, within reason but he still has to run every hiring and firing by Matt Harms. Sweeney says that's fine, for now but implies that he won't be done until he owns this company and it is just a matter of finding the right matter of circumstances and capital that will have the Board of Directors remove Matt Harms and place Sweeney in that role as owner. Harms says he looks forward to the attempt and wishes Sweeney well in his task, giving him one last warning. He will be watching. Harms and Sweeney have a staredown in the middle of the ring, as the two most powerful men in the NAWA are face to face. The crowd wants them to go at it but nothing. Matt Harms has spoke, Larry Sweeney is Commissioner but Harms is keeping a very close eye on him and won't hesistate to take measures to have him removed if he gets out of line.

Hart is doubled over and he is hit with a pair of snap suplexes. Mamaluke holds on before he drops Hart down with a vicious brain buster for a nearfall. Hart is pounded some more and Mamaluke hits a swinging neckbreaker, before he sets up a guillotine choke. Tag made to Killings and tag made to Raven!

Killings is back into the ring but Hart dropkicks him right into a single leg take down and ankle lock by Raven. Raven applies the hold and Hart pounds away at Mamaluke, but is distracted by Stylish talking trash about Hart. Hart slides to ringside, allowing Mamaluke to attack Raven, pounding away at him from behind. Double teaming in the ring, as Sweeney has the referee distracted, with Hart and Stylish getting into a shoving match at ringside. Mamaluke accidentally clotheslines Killings and this allows Raven to take Mamaluke out of the equation with the Evenflow DDT! Mamaluke has been knocked out and Jerry Lynn rushes down to the ring and decks Raven from behind. Raven staggers right into the K-Driller! His body deflates under the impact and the referee counts the pin, as Hart is tied up with Stylish on the floor! Ron Killings has pinned Raven!

Tony Mamaluke and Ron Killings defeated Teddy Hart and Raven when Killings pinned Raven with the K-Driller in 0:12:06. Rating: *** 1/4

Mamaluke is on the floor and he jumps Hart from behind. Its a chaotic scene at ringside as Jerry Lynn and Miles Stylish are brawling, along with Tony Mamaluke and Teddy Hart! Mamaluke is thrown into the guardrail and Stylish knocks Lynn down with a huge forearm smash. Lynn is thrown into the announcers table and pummeled. Hart and Stylish turn, facing off against each ohter, as Glory fades to black on this note.
