NAWA Glory 2/23/06

Tonight: The NAWA World Champion Miles Stylish will square off against Raven in a non title match. Christian Cage puts the NAWA International Title on the line against Austin Aries. The Rottweilers and Team 3D hook it up one more time. All this and much more tonight on Glory. Let's get down to the ring for some tag team action.

Jimmy Yang and Kaz Hayashi vs. the Briscoe Brothers Both teams trade high flying offensive moves. The crowd cheers as Jay Briscoe dives over the top rope with a tope suicida onto Kaz Hayashi, before he delivers a series of punches and throws Hayashi into the ring, before he delivers a springboard leg lariat. Two count and Jay Briscoe ducks his head, before Hayashi delivers an uppercut to the chest. Kaz Hayashi delivers some chops and tags in Yang, before Hayashi slams him down and Yang delivers a somersault splash off the top rope for the count of two. Yang beats on Jay Briscoe and Hayashi is tagged in, to pund him with a series of chops, before throwing him into the ropes. Leg lariat into the corner and Hayashi grabs Briscoe, before he delivers a brain buster for a two count. A couple more quick tags as Yang sets up Jay Briscoe but Hayashi misses a flying senton off the top rope, wiping himself out!

The crowd is cheering madly as the race is made to the corner. Tag made to Yang and Yang enters the ring and grabs the leg Jay Briscoe. Briscoe pops up and enzuigiri to the back of the head of Yang. He falls into the tag and in comes Mark Briscoe, who delivers a series of jabs, before he delivers clotheslines to both Kaz and Yang. Kaz Hayashi is launched over the top rope and to the arena floor. Mark Briscoe takes a running start and SOMERSAULT PLANCHA WIPES OUT HAYASHI! Hayashi is down on the ground and Yang leaps over the top rope, before he delivers a springboard somersault plancha to the arena floor. All three men are up on the floor and Jay Briscoe gets to his feet. Jay Briscoe leaps off the top rope and RINGPOST MOONSAULT WIPES OUT YANG! The referee is making the count and Mark Briscoe rolls into the ring but Yang is still down and does not beat the count! The Briscoe Brothers win this match via countout!

The Briscoe Brothers (Jay Briscoe and Mark Briscoe) defeated Kaz Hayashi and Jimmy Yang when M. Briscoe defeated Yang by countout in 0:07:34 . Rating: ** 3/4

The Briscoe Brothers win their second match as a tag team as the crowd is cheering, really getting behind them as they walk to the back, hands raised in the air in triumph. Two weeks in a row and two victories, with the Briscoe Brothers rolling into the NAWA Tag Team Division.

Footage is shown from last week on Glory, with Bryan Danielson getting pinned by Tony Mamaluke in an eight man tag team match last week on Glory, which leads into the next match.

Petey Williams vs. Bryan Danielson The NAWA Cruiserweight Championship is not on the line. Danielson attacks Petey Williams, knocking him around, before delivering an airplane spin and then a running kneelift, before hitting a double underhook suplex for the count of two. Danielson kneels down and hammers Petey Williams with chops and stomps, before dragging Petey Williams to his feet. Pair of elbows driven to the back of the head and Petey Williams is thrown into the corner. Belly to belly suplex brings him down to the canvas and Danielson delivers a kneedrop for a two count. Back to his feet but Petey Williams delivers a vicious kneelift to the chest. Danielson is staggered a step back and Petey Williams delivers a vicious leg lariat, wiping out Bryan Danielson for a two count. Danielson is pounded and Petey Williams pulls him up before delivering a fisherman suplex for a two count.

Petey Williams picks up Danielson and rams him into the corner before he unloades on Danielson with chops, before he sets him. Pair of vicious snap suplexes brings him down and Petey Williams pulls Danielson up to a standing position. Dropkick off the second rope to the back of the head scores a two count and Petey Williams picks up Danielson, before pounding him with forearms. Russian Legsweep connects with Danielson and Petey Williams picks him up off of his feet. Pair of double axe handles to the back of the head and attempted Canadian Destroyer but Danielson counters with a double leg takedown into a catapult. Petey Williams bounces into the corner and Danielson delivers a vicious elbowsmash to the back of the head. More rapid fire elbows in the corner and Danielson delivers a belly to back suplex, bringing him down, before he applies a seated abdominal stretch cradle and unloads with elbowsmashes to the back of the head. Cattle Mutilation is applied and Petey Williams squirms but he has nowhere to go so he taps out!

Bryan Danielson made Petey Williams submit to the Cattle Mutilation in 0:08:13. Rating: *** 1/2

Out comes Tony Mamaluke, along with NAWA Commissioner Larry Sweeney. Sweeney applauds Danielson of his victory, but also announces at Reality Check Bryan Danielson will put his NAWA Cruiserweight Title on the line against Tony Mamaluke. The crowd cheers as this match has been made. Mamaluke mentions that Danielson is on track to being the longest reigning NAWA Cruiserweight Champion since Teddy Hart, but Tony Mamaluke ended that reign of Hart and at Reality Check, history will repeat itself when Mamaluke beats Danielson. Danielson gets on the microphone, talking about he beat Mamaluke last year in the finals of the Gold Rush Tournament but Mamaluke argues that was a fluke and at Reality Check, we'll all see who the better man is. The crowd is buzzing as the match is on, Bryan Danielson against Tony Mamaluke for the NAWA Cruiserweight Title at Reality Check, only on Pay Per View.

The Rottweilers(w/Julius Smokes) vs. Team 3D Team 3D are of course the number one contenders for the NAWA World Tag Team Titles and will be facing off against Chris Sabin and Matt Bentley for the gold at Reality Check. Low-Ki tries to catch Brother Ray off guard with some kicks but Brother Ray counters with an elbowsmash, before he delivers some jabs into the corner and an avalanche, before slamming Low-Ki down and tagging Brother Devon into the ring. Devon enters the ring and pounds away at Low-Ki, drawing some cheers. Double flapjack puts Low-Ki down to the canvas and Brother Devon delivers some jabs but Low-Ki delivers a chop. More chops and Low-Ki unloads with some kicks. Homicide has the tag rope around the throat of Devon and throttles him in the corner and Low-Ki delivers a Koppo Kick. Tag to Homicide who delivers a springboard clothesline for a two count. More punches and stomps, along with some elbowdrops, before Homicide sets up a camel clutch. Tag to Low-Ki and Low-Ki delivers a running dropkick to the face of Devon as he is caught!

Low-Ki delivers some more vicious chops and he hammers with some more kicks to the ribs. Devon is slumped in the corner and Low-Ki delivers a vicious kick to the side of Devon's head. Devon is slumped in the corner and Low-Ki throws him into the corner. Running kneelift in the corner and Devon is kicked right in the ribs. Another pair of kicks to the ribs and Low-Ki delivers a swinging neckbreaker. Low-Ki distracts the referee as Smokes chokes Devon with his tie. Devon is in the center of the ring and Low-Ki delivers a vicious kick, nearly knocking Devon for a loop. Leg lariat and Low-Ki climbs to the outside. Springboard double foot stomp but Devon rolls out of the way and pops up before he decks Low-Ki with a clothesline! Low-Ki is down on the canvas and Devon rolls into the corner. Tag made on both ends!

Brother Ray enters the ring, fists of fire, jabs and punches and a huge elbowsmash to the back of the head of Homicide. Another huge elbowsmash to the back of the head of Low-Ki and Brother Ray hoists him up, delivering a spinebuster. Homicide goes for a lariat but Brother Ray ducks it and delivers a reverse neckbreaker. Cover on Homicide but Smokes puts the foot on the rope. Brother Ray swings at Smokes but Low-Ki delivers a kick, sending Brother Devon to the floor. Brother Ray knocks Low-Ki down and HOMICIDE NEARLY RIPS THE HEAD OF BROTHER RAY OFF WITH A HUGE LARIAT! The crowd is booing as Larry Sweeney is out, arguing with the referee, as Abyss has just taken out Low-Ki with a chain loaded punch to the back of the head. Morishima enters the ring and Yakuza Kick right to the chest of Homicide. Sweeney calls his men off as Devon enters the ring. Team 3D deliver the 3D on Homicide and scores the pin, thanks to some help from Larry Sweeney's monster team of Takeshi Morishima and Abyss!

Team 3D (Brother Devon and Brother Ray) defeated Low-Ki and Homicide when Brother Ray pinned Homicide with the 3D in 0:10:09. Rating: *** 1/2

Larry Sweeney gives Team 3D the thumbs up before he walks to the back, with Morishima and Abyss walking to the back. Devon and Ray look confused and the announcers speculate that Sweeney might have his sights set on Team 3D. If that's the case, he's been rather busy over the past couple of weeks, first trying to get Harry Harris involved in some kind of deal and now he is helping Team 3D win a match. Obviously he's always looking for some new way to put more money in his pocket.

Backstage:

Team 3D are backstage when the NAWA World Tag Team Champions Chris Sabin and Matt Bentley confront them. Sabin asks Team 3D what was up with the last match, saying that Sweeney ordered Morishima and Abyss to help them win. Brother Ray interrupts saying he knew nothing about what just happened, other than Sweeney sticking his nose where it didn't belong. Devon adds that Sabin and Bentley don't need to worry about what just happened, worry about March 19th at Reality Check, when Team 3D steps into the ring with Bentley and Sabin, to take those NAWA World Tag Team Titles. Devon testifies and Brother Ray reminds us that they are nineteen time tag team champions. Bentley cockily respons: "No, that means you're nineteen time losers" and this triggers a brawl involving Team 3D and Chris Sabin and Matt Bentley, that goes around the backstage area. Both teams are trading punches and kicks in the backstage area. We need to get this mess sorted out but we understand it's time to get down to the ring for the next match on Glory.

Dominic Santiago vs. Samoa Joe Samoa Joe is pissed after Sederick Skyhawk laid him out last week and takes it out on poor Santiago with a huge headbutt right to the face. Joe beats on Santiago in the corner with some chops in the corner, blistering his chest and delivering some vicious knee smashes, causing Santiago to be hunched over in pain. Joe blisters him with double chops to the chest and he delivers a vicious fallaway slam bringing Santiago down to the canvas. Running Yakuza Kick to the face to the kneeling Santiago and Joe delivers some kneedrops, before he viciously pounds on Santiago some more and hoists him up. RELEASE GERMAN SUPLEX DUMPS SANTIAGO DOWN ON THE BACK OF HIS NECK! Santiago might be dead but Joe looks like he wants to kill him even more! He batters the corpse with punches and VICIOUS POWER BOMB INTO THE CORNER. The neck of Dominic Santiago whiplashes off of that top turnbuckle! Joe stomps the ever living piss out of Santiago in the corner and vicious boot scrape, busting the nose of Santiago open before Joe nails him right in the side of the face with a vicious Yakuza Kick. Up and down with a Muscle Buster that folds Santiago up! Joe applies the Kokina Clutch and Santiago is out. The referee drops the arm three times to make sure, as if there was any doubt and the bell rings, awarding the match to Samoa Joe!

Samoa Joe defeated Dominic Santiago when Dominic Santiago passed out in the Kokina Clutch in 0:05:36. Rating: ****

The crowd explodes into cheers as Samoa Joe has scored the pin. Sederick Skyhawk better be watching because Samoa Joe has just sent an impressive message to Skyhawk. Joe holds up the NAWA Television Title Belt, the belt he will be putting on the line against Sederick Skyhawk at Reality Check.

Backstage:

We see Sederick Skyhawk cutting a prerecorded promo, before the members of the press. Skyhawk puts himself over as a great athlete and a supreme entertainer, the man who should hold the NAWA Television Title belt. Skyhawk declares that he should be the focus of the company but all the fans are talking about was the return of Harry Harris. Skyhawk runs down Harry Harris, calling him a broken down shell of his former self, saying that Harris isn't on the level of Skyhawk and Skyhawk is in the future. Skyhawk says he's going to end Samoa Joe's undefeated streak and take his NAWA Television Title, but he wants Harry Harris one on one in the ring next week on Glory, to prove who the better man is. Skyhawk says next week, it's going to be Harry Harris's brush with greatness.

NAWA International Title Match Austin Aries(w/Alex Shelley) vs. Christian Cage(c)(w/Miles Stylish)

Both men lock up and Aries delivers a pair of armdrags, bringing him down to the canvas. Christian bounces up to his feet and Aries chops him, before throwing him into the ropes. Leapfrog over the charging Christian and Aries delivers a kneelift to the chest of Christian, before hitting him with a leg lariat to the chest of Christian. Aries picks up Christian and delivers some chops, punishing him in the corner, before delivering a kneelift. Jawbreaker brings Christian down and Aries goes to the outside, before ascending to the top rope. Missile dropkick sends Christian down to the canvas and Aries covers for a two count. Aries beats on Christian, hammering him with chops and sends him over the top rope, deliveirng a leg lariat, before sending Christian into the guardrail with a baseball slide dropkick and diving over the top rope with a tope suicida!

Aries beats on Christian and rolls him into the ring. Stylish moves back around and Shelley cuts him off, allowing Aries to enter back into the ring. Christian goes to the eyes of Aries and delivers a clothesline, before stomping away at him. Kneedrop down across the chest of Aries and Christian pounds away at Aries with a double axe handle to the back. Kneelift to the chest and Christian delivers a gutwrench suplex bringing him down for the count of two and Christian pounds away at the back of the head, before pulling him up to his feet. Elbowsmash takes him down and Christian climbs to the outside. Flying axhandle down across the chest of Aries scores a two count. Snap suplex brings Aries down and Christian hits a pair of backbreakers but Aries stands down. Christian goes for a reverse DDT but Aries fights out of it, scissoring onto the ropes and twisting Christian. NORTHERN LIGHTS SUPLEX INTO A BRIDGE! Christian is on the canvas and Aries bridges forthe cover. Two and nine tenths count!

Aries beats on Christian, chopping him, before throwing him into the ropes. Kneelift right into the chest of Christian and Aries delivers a swinging neckbreaker bringing him down to the canvas. Aries picks up Christian and elbows to the back of the head before he hits a belly to back suplex. Cover and a two count. Stylish watches at ringside, as the belt came close to slipping through Christian's fingers and Aries goes for a brain buster but Christian blocks it. Aries shoves Christian off into the ropes and high back body drop. Aries delivers a jawbreaker and climbs to the top rope. Springboard dropkick connects and Aries covers for a two count. He connects with the brain buster this time and goes to the top rope. 450 Splash no Christian rolls out of the way! Aries lands on his feet and kicks Christian, before hoisting him up in an attempted brain buster, but Christian drops down the backdoor and hooks the legs before bringing Aries into the Unprettier for the pin!

Christian Cage pinned Austin Aries with the Unprettier in 0:12:27. Rating: *** 3/4 (Christian Cage retained the NAWA International Title.)

Christian Cage has his hand raised with an impressive win tonight and he continues to move forward. It is announced that next week AJ Styles will square off against the Gambler for the number one contendership for the NAWA International Title and the winner will face off against Christian Cage at Reality Check for the gold!

Harry Harris comes to ringside to join us for commentary, accepting Sederick Skyhawk's challenge for next week as this match gets underway.

Non Title Match Raven vs. Miles Stylish(w/Christian Cage)

Raven attacks Stylish from behind at the bell, beating him with a series of punches and kicks, before delivering a couple of forearm smashes. Inverted atomic drop brings Stylish down and Raven delivers a punch to the midsection, before he delivers a clothesline to Stylish bringing him to the arena floor. Raven slides to the floor and pounds away at Stylish, before throwing him into the guardrail. Kneelift to the chest stuns Stylish and Raven beats him down on the floor and slams him right into the ring apron. Another slam into the ring apron and Raven delivers a double axe handle to the back of the head, before hooking Stylish around the head and delivers a Russian Legsweep slamming the head of Stylish into the guardrail. Raven chokes Stylish, before throwing him into the ring and CHRISTIAN ATTACKS RAVEN FROM BEHIND!

The referee sees Christian's interference and he is sent to the back but Stylish delivers a baseball slide into a flying headscissors, folding Raven up. Kneelift to the chest of Raven and Stylish picks up Raven, chopping away at him, before scooping him onto his shoulder. Facefirst onto the ring apron and Raven is stunned, before Stylish delivers a chop to the chest. Another chop to the chest and more chops before Raven is back into the ring. Stylish climbs to the outside and hits a flying clothesline for the count of two. Raven is pounded in the center of the ring and Stylish delivers a kneelift, before he delivers a swinging suplex bringing him down for a two count. Stylish picks up Raven, before he delivers a dropkick to the knee and beats on Raven in the corner, before he pulls out a backspin DDT, bringing Raven down for the count of two.

Stylish throws Raven to the floor and slides to the floor, with a baseball slide. He chokes Raven with the camera cable, while talking trash with Harry Harris and more chops. Stylish takes more time to get into Harry Harris's face for a few seconds and turns around into a Raven clothesline. Stylish is down and Raven scoops up Stylish, before delivering a bodyslam right onto the guardrail. The fans wince as Stylish's back is folded up right over the guardrail and Raven hammers the chest of the NAWA Champion with elbows, before he delivers a snap suplex on the floor. Stylish is stunned and Raven enters the ring, breaking the count, before Stylish is thrown into the ring. Raven delivers a reverse thrust kick for the count of two and Stylish is pulled off the canvas, before Raven hammers him some more. Running kneelift and bulldog drills Stylish down to the canvas. Cover but Raven pulls Stylish up after the count of two and a half!

Raven assaults Stylish with some punches and delivers a bodyslam, before drilling some knees into the chest of Stylish. Stylish is dragged up to his feet by the hair and put on the top rope. Raven slaps Stylish in the face several times, as he climbs up. Stylish is hooked and RAVEN DELIVERS A HUGE SUPERPLEX TO STYLISH, BRINGING HIM DOWN OFF OF THE CANVAS! Stylish twitches and Raven picks up Stylish, before launching him to the arena floor. Stylish lands on the arena floor and Raven climbs to the top rope, before he delivers a double axe handle chop to the back of Stylish right off the top rope. Raven slams Stylish into the guardrail hard and drop toe hold onto the ringsteps! The head of Stylish hits the steps hard and Raven delivers some jabs, before he throws Stylish into the ring. Raven climbs to the top rope, with a steel chair as the referee warns Raven, who is risking disqualification. Raven leaps off with the chair and GETS IT DROPKICKED IN HIS FACE AS HE COMES OFF THE TOP ROPE! The referee is going to let this one go as Stylish covers Raven hooking the leg for a two and nine tenths count!

Stylish beats on Raven and chops him, before throwing him into the ropes. Spinning headscissors and Raven is pulled to his feet, before he delivers a swinging vertical suplex bringing him down. Stylish delivers a running neck snap before he bounces off the ropes and delivers a rolling somersault senton down across the chest of Raven. Stylish covers hooking the leg for a nearfall. Raven is picked up and Stylish chops him across the chest. Stylish backs off and goes for a kick but Raven catches the ankle and brings Stylish down right into the ankle lock. Stylish is in the ropes right away and Raven releases the hold and charges Stylish. STYLISH LAUNCHES HIM OVER THE TOP ROPE WITH A HIGH BACK BODY DROP! Raven nearly lands on his head right on the floor and Stylish takes a running start, leaping over the top rope. TOPE SUICIDA MISSES WHEN RAVEN DUCKS AND STYLISH HITS HIS HEAD RIGHT ON THE GUARDRAIL! The champion has been busted wide open and Raven slides into the ring. The referee puts the count on Stylish but Stylish enters the ring at the count of nine and RAVEN CATCHES HIM WITH AN EVENFLOW DDT! Stylish is rolled over and Raven makes the cover, scoring the pin to beat the NAWA World Champion in this non title match.

Raven pinned Miles Stylish with the Evenflow DDT in 0:22:01. Rating: **** 1/2

Raven has won as Harry Harris looks up. Say what you want about Raven but he has defeated both number one contender and the NAWA World Champion in back to back matches. Raven's argument for receiving an NAWA World Title shot strengthens tonight and tune in next week to see if it gathers any steam. We're out of time, see you next week.
