NAWA Glory 3/3/05

Backstage:

We cut to the office of the NAWA Commissioner New Jack where Tony Mamaluke walks in, dressed in a three piece suit. Mamaluke says that his new agent says that New Jack hasn't bothered to book him in a match on this evening. He's a star damnit, he should be utilized on every card. He makes seven figures a show and at Reality Check, he will become the NAWA International Champion. Mamaluke says that it doesn't matter who New Jack puts him in the ring with, hell, just dig some scrub off the street and Mamaluke will make him into a star. New Jack looks at Mamaluke, saying that since Mamaluke wants a match so bad, he can have one tonight on Glory and in fact, it will be in the main event. Mamaluke looks pleased, saying that New Jack's finally saw that Mamaluke's the franchise player in this company. In fact, Mamaluke vows to kick his opponent's ass, humilating him in front of the world. It is at this point where New Jack reveals that Tony Mamaluke will in fact square against the number one contender for the NAWA World Title, the man who will be challenging Harry Harris March 20th at Reality Check, Ron Waterman! The crowd explodes into cheers as Mamaluke's eyes widen in absolute terror, as every single time he's fought Waterman in the NAWA, he's had his ass handed to him. Quickly, Mamaluke says that he's going to make sure Ron Waterman won't make it to Reality Check, before he walks off. With that, we fade to the introduction.

Tonight: Tony Mamaluke will square off against Ron Waterman. Also The NAWA World Champion Harry Harris and Raven will square off against Scott Steiner and CM Punk.

"Danger Zone" by Kenny Loggins plays and out comes the NAWA World Champion Harry Harris, to mostly cheers, but the reaction is a bit more mixed after the events of last week, tagging himself into the main event when Waterman had the match won. Harris slides into the ring and calls for the microphone. Reality Check is only a mere seventeen days away and it's perhaps the most anticipated match in the history of the New Age Wrestling Alliance, Harry Harris putting the NAWA World Title on the line against the winner of the 2005 Luck of the Draw Match, Ron Waterman. Harris says he's been training hard, watching countless Ron Waterman matches from the past two years, scouting his challenger from every possible angle, and he'll be ready come the 20th of March to retain the championship no matter what, but right now, there is another matter Harris wishes to address, that being Scott Steiner.

Yes, last week, Scott Steiner pinned the NAWA World Champion in the center of the ring. In fact, we are coming up on the three anniversary of "Scott Steiner's Epic NAWA World Title Reign". Harris says this with a bit of a sarcastic tone, saying that it was so epic, many people forgot Steiner was the NAWA World Champion, and the fact remains he held the title for a breath taking ninety minutes. Harris says that Scott Steiner's NAWA World Title Reign was just a foot note, a stastistic, when they think of great former NAWA World Champions, they think of Ron Waterman, Raven, Shane Douglas, Sting, and yes, Harry Harris. Scott Steiner is not on the list, he's up there with the Dark Warrior and Jeff Jarrett as NAWA World Title reigns that are best forgotten.

Yet, there's something to be gained if Harry Harris beats Scott Steiner in the center of the ring. He's beaten Jeff Jarrett. He's beaten Sting. He's beaten Shane Douglas. He's beaten Raven. He's beaten the Dark Warrior. In fact, Ron Waterman and Scott Steiner are the only two former NAWA World Champions Harry Harris has never beaten and Harris offers to put the NAWA World Title on the line, on March 15th, on the Ides of March, on the special three hour edition of NAWA Glory Xtra, so Harris can beat Steiner and the only obstacle he has to the top is Ron Waterman, at Reality Check.

"Bodies" by Drowning Pool kicks out and out comes Scott Steiner, with a scowl on his face and a pipe in his hand. Steiner says that he may have had the NAWA World Championship for ninety minutes, but at the Ides of March, Big Poppa Pump will be the NAWA World Champion once again, all of his freaks will bask in the glory of his second title reign as NAWA World Champion. Steiner accepts the challenge but adds that it will be very hard for Harry Harris to wrestle with "two broken legs". With that, Scott Steiner rushes down to the ring, pipe in hand and swings wildly, but Harris ducks and leaping side kick knocking Steiner down. Harris steps back, the NAWA World Championship in hand and he steps before before he rushes Steiner. BELT RIGHT TO THE FACE PUTS STEINER TO THE FLOOR! Harris holds up the title belt, as the crowd cheers, before he defends the title belt against Ron Waterman at Reality Check, Harris has to put that gold on the line against Scott Steiner. There is a chance that he might not make it to Reality Check as Scott Steiner is no doubt looking to silence the critics who scoff at the length of his first NAWA World Title reign. We'll see on March 15th, with that big championship bout.

Candace Sweet is in the ring, annoucing the arrival of the NAWA Television Champion, Sedrick Skyhawk. The red carpet is rolled out to the ring, as a laser light shot and pyro, along with baloons and confetti falling from the ceiling announce the arrival of Sedrick Skyhawk, who comes to the ring, with the imposing for of his seven foot tall bodyguard, Bruno, who stands in the backgrounds, arms folded, an emotionless look on his face. Once again, this is a non title match, but Sedrick Skyhawk has offered whomever can beat him in a non title match a chance to become NAWA World Television Champion. He enters the ring, and hands the belt to Bruno, who drapes it over his massive right shoulder. Chuck Palumbo tried last time but failed, so let's see if Shawn Stasiak can do any better. Stasiak makes his way out, to a rather unremarkable entrance, as he slides into the ring. Homicide and Low Ki are backstage, along with Julius Smokes, when they are confronted by Chris Sabin and Matt Bentley. Smokes says the number one contenders have no times for "punk ass b-teams". Bentley responds that the Rottweilers might have won tag team turmoil but they didn't beat Sabin and Bentley. Smokes agrees, but only because they weren't in the match. Sabin says if the Rottweilers have the guts, they'd put their NAWA World Tag Team Titles on the line. Punk rolls to the floor, raising his arm up in the "X" for the victory, as Teddy Hart enters the ring, trying to explain what happened but Harris is slowly pulling himself to his feet, blood gushing from his face from that singapore cane shot. Harris gets in Hart's face but Hart just steps back, raising his arms up, before Harris turns his back, walking off in a bit of a huff, as Hart and Raven are left in the ring. The NAWA World Champion obviously does not buy Teddy's change of heart and quite frankly, the one eighty that Teddy Hart has done recently is a bit suspect. Taking a singapore cane shot, accidental or not, did not improve Harris's opinion on Teddy Hart to say the least. We'll be right back with the main event, don't you dare clutch that dial, more Glory right at this word from our sponsors.
