Interview with Prince Boomer
by
Paul Ridge
Paul
Ridge: Welcome all to my second Interview Segment. Paul Ridge here with
the first ever Jr. Heavyweight Champion Prince Boomer. Boomer thanks for
clearing up your schedule for an interview with me
Prince Boomer: Well, I figured I'd give you the honor of being in the
presence of greatness
PR: Right..... Anyways, How did you get started, but more importantly how
did you get involved with the great NGW?
PB: I got started with LVBW back in the fall and winter of 2001. We were
never great, but that put down the foundation for things to come later on.
Around late winter in 2004, we at LVBW stumbled across NGW on the Backyard
Wrestling Link. My first match with NGW was on April 10th, 2004, against
Benjamin Dover, and since then I've been a regular, displaying my great
skills on a number of NGW shows, and it all led right up to this point
PR: Word around the locker room says you have improved A LOT since your
first match with NGW. I agree. What did you do to improve so much in a short
amount of time?
PB: I think realizing that the fans were a ball and chain, weighing the old
Boomer down, also made me see that I was in need of a change. So, I began to
realize my true potential in the ring, and I began to understand that nobody
in the NGW locker room could match up to Prince Boomer. As for the physical
aspect, I learned some new maneuvers that are a major step up from the
basics that I knew before, and I also became smarter and more aware in the
ring.
PR: Glad to hear it Boomer. Your match at Adrenalin was said to be, by Sean
Levy anyways, to be in the top five. How did you prepare to wrestle someone
as talented and quick as Matt Cross?
PB: I had Matt Cross scouted. I knew that he was going to try some of his
high-flying moves, and I also knew that those types of moves would not be
able to keep me down for long. Once I got the advantage, I stayed on Matt
Cross and just overpowered him. I was able to bring the match around to my
style of wrestling, and that's how I beat Matt Cross. Oh, and at least Sean
Levy now realizes that he got beaten by greatness, because all in one night
he got to be defeated by me, and then watch as his buddy Matt fell to
royalty for the three count.
PR: How did you manage to beat both Sean Levy and matt cross knowing that at
any moment their buddies from the Dark Dynasty could come out and out number
you. Were you worried at all that you might get jumped by the three?
PB: Well, seeing as Ronin did viciously and unfairly attack me on the
outside during my match with Sean Levy, but I still won anyway, I wasn't all
THAT concerned with the Dark Dynasty. Plus, after the beating I gave him it
would've been a death wish for Sean Levy to try to get in the ring with me
again when I was wrestling Matt Cross. I was aware of the fact that Matt
Cross had backup at ringside. However, it wasn't a top concern of mine.
PR: Do you have any friends in NGW that would have come out and help you in
your time of need if the Dark Dynasty were to jump you?
PB: Well, I suppose after bailing Alex Prime out when Paul Regal came to the
ring and attacked him, that he would owe me a favor. But like I said, I did
get cheaply, viciously attacked on the outside by Ronin, and everything
turned out fine for me. That just goes to show how great I am. Where others
would've let something like that take them, Prince Boomer overcame, focused,
and was able to take care of Sean Levy single handedly
PR: How did it feel to throw someone you have had problems with in the past,
someone who held the LVBW US title and wasn’t even in LVBW, Paul Regal out
of the ring and see him go flying to the entrance ramp?
PB: I got a lot of satisfaction out of sending Paul Regal flying. Not only
did he hold one of LVBW's luxurious, prestigious titles without even being
in LVBW, but also, you don't wrestle in NGW for months and then come back
and attack somebody who is not only my brother, but MY biggest rival? I felt
that I had to teach Paul Regal a lesson, and if he wants to be taught
another, he can come right back for more anytime.
PR: Speaking of returning out of no where. Do you think it was Possible that
Paul Regal himself might have been driving the car that struck Evan Blaze
and DJ Severe to make an impact in his return to NGW?
PB: I don't know who did that, I'll be completely honest. I mean, I've
answered enough questions about that and I've been accused of doing that
myself, when clearly I have better things to do, such as winning titles.
However, to answer your question, I'll go out on a limb and say that it's
possible that he could have really wanted to make an impactful return,
driving him to take those kinds of measures.
PR: Nicely put. How does it feel to be the first ever NGW Jr. Heavyweight
Champion?
PB: This title victory was a long time coming. Finally, NGW manages their
most talented wrestler wisely and not only gives him gold, but makes him the
trailblazer for all of the future Junior Heavyweight Champions down the
road. Of course, none of those future champions will ever be able to match
up to Prince Boomer... but at least I'm giving them something to strive for.
By the way, when I say "future" Junior Heavyweight Champions, I don't
mean
to say that I plan to ever lose the belt. Once I turn 19, I'd imagine I'd be
ineligible to hold the title, so therefore, they'd have to take it from me.
PR: What were your thoughts going into the tournament?
PB: I didn't see anybody else coming out of the tournament with the Junior
Heavyweight Title but me. After all, not only am I the oldest competitor in
the Junior Heavyweight division, I'm also the most skilled, best looking,
and not to mention, I have been around NGW the longest out of any of the
four in the tournament. I knew from the outset that I was going to win the
title, and that's exactly what happened.
PR: But you will have all the Junior Heavyweight after you. You honestly
think you could stand to go through all including Sean Levy, Paul Regal, DJ
Severe, Matt Cross and many others?
PB: Let's disect that list of people you just named. I BEAT Sean Levy and I
BEAT Matt Cross in the title match. I beat the living crap out of Paul Regal
all the way into the backstage area, and DJ Severe has a broken foot. All in
one night, at Adrenaline, I proved that there is no one, I repeat, NOT ONE
PERSON that can match up to me in the Junior Heavyweight Division
PR: Glad to get your thoughts. Even if they are farfetched. This has been
the second edition of Interviews. Paul Ridge signing off
