NGW Revolution Review by: Johnny B. Badd March 19, 2004 Hey, this is Johnny B Badd and I am commentating on what I saw at Next Generation Wrestling's first inter-promotional show on March 13th. It was called NGW Revolution. The United States Title Tournament had the best and worst match of the night. First, the worst match of the night was Thor vs. Fabolous Paul Regal. The crowd gave Paul alot of heat for his rap, especially Hardbody Hibbert. The match was slow and drawn out too long. It seemed as though Paul, Thor and the ref didn't know what was going on. The best match of the night was Tek vs. The Outlaw Dave Winant vs. Dr. John Bowes. This was expected since all three are veterans of backyard wrestling. Smooth match with alot of good, not great, 3-way spots. The crowd didn't get into it that much as these weren't their home fans, but hearing a 'Sup-err-man' chant for Tek was nice. The other match in the US Title tournament was Acejack vs. Chris Maverick which pitted the UWA World Champion versus a veteran in Chris Maverick. This would've been a great match but the top rope broke which sent Acejack spilling onto the ground. Good match for only having one rope. OK people need to understand, if it weren't for this match, the show would've been pretty damn likable. This wasn't The Tanks fault. Hardbody Hibbert showed no balls to want to be in this match. I don't know if it was no padding or just the fact that he was facing an opponent that looked more skillful but Hibbert screwed this match up, and all of the hype. He would move 4-5 steps just to set up a spot. What was he afraid he'd hit dirt or the cage? Aww poor baby. Worst match of the night, NGW needs to put different wrestlers in gimmick matches. Nothing shows pitiful like the insult of every other wrestler. The US final was solid with Chris Maverick winning the title and he is very deserving. Mad props to Paul Regal, this kids 15 and just wrestled two guys with pro training. Well also, Chris and Dave Winant did a nice job with the flow of this match and the crowd cheered for Chris as he won, which was a good deal. Finally the main event was pretty good. Evan Blaze and Alex Prime battled a solid match which saw a little shine from both. There were 2 great table spots and the fans really got into it. Evan and Alex both worked up the crowd which is why this match was quality. A little slow though and one bad miscommunication kept this from stealing the night. Overall, the Three Way in the US Title tournament was hot and the NGW World Title match and the US Title final were solid but the Cage Match ruined all heat the crowd had from previous matches. NGW does have an amazing setup and its a great place to host WrestleStock 2004. Best Matches 1) Tek v. The Outlaw Dave Winant v. Dr. John Bowes 2) Evan Blaze v. Alex Prime 3) Chris Maverick v. The Outlaw Dave Winant v. Fabolous Paul Regal What I Marked For 1) Tek's Moonsault (amazing) 2) Evan and Alex with tables (sweetness) 3) Chris Maverick's commentary during the matches (classic) What Blew 1) Hardbody Hibbert. He booed Regal when he was rapping. Who boos their own feds wrestlers when they are the faces that night. Next time he's in a gimmick match make it a Pink Slip on a Pole match, and could he please lose. (F*** that kid) 2) Top rope snapping during AceJack/Maverick match (That match could've been #1 match) 3) The 20 minute moving of the crowd to the cage, and then it be a 2 minute match.
