Out of the Closet
By “The Nomad” Gia Savitz
I loved Meltdown 2005. Even though we had a little technical problem, from top
to bottom the show was phenomenal. I’ve been with NGW since June 2004 and of
all the shows I’ve worked with, Meltdown 2005 is my favorite.
I enjoyed talking to Ben Nisman, Jester, and Scorpion. Ben Nisman is on his way to Hollywood for a film internship and we here at the NGW family wish him the best and hope to see him at a future NGW event. It was also great to have reunited with Paul Regal at the show. His ring work is better than ever and I hope to work a match with him in the near future.
Now for negotiation news:
Around the month of March, I sent out a letter to an amateur wrestler named
Nick Wegner. Wegner competed in amateur wrestling competitions in the state of
North Carolina, going for state championships. Wegner and I also went to
boarding school together, as he was an amateur wrestling standout on our
school’s wrestling team. I felt it would have been a benefit to NGW to have
him on our roster. With that in mind, I sent him a letter to his residence in
Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Just about two months went by and Wegner called
me this past weekend from Japan. Wegner is in the Navy and is stationed in
Japan till next December. Now Wegner has always been devoted to amateur
wrestling and in some ways considered professional wrestling as a joke. But
that was 1999 and now that we’re in 2005, Wegner wanted to give professional
wrestling a shot with NGW. I hope once Wegner finishes his stint with the
Navy, that he will debut for NGW. Another amateur wrestler I spoke to was Adam
Davidowicz and talking to him was a bit different. He assumed NGW was an
amateur wrestling promotion but once he saw what NGW truly was all about,
talks silenced. I would like to see our company invite some amateur wrestlers
for our roster. It would add more diversity to our product.
Devastation Wrestling’s Problem Child and Angel are interested in coming on board with NGW. They were supposed to come to Meltdown but due to personal reasons, couldn’t show up. Talks though will continue.
NWA North Jersey’s Flesheater Kuvatro and Renegade Angel are still
interested in working future NGW shows. Kuvatro was the one who trained me for
professional wrestling and I would love to work a match with him. I remember
the times when we would be training and Kuvatro beat the crap out of me. There
would be days when I wouldn’t want to come to the dojo. I was scared of
Kuvatro. Now I want to have a one on one match with him because I have A LOT
to prove. Yes, I will be nervous. More nervous than any match I’ve ever had
in this sport. But Kuvatro is a skeleton in my closet and I have to face up to
him once and for all.
If any of you females out there want to be a part of the NGW Women’s
Division as a wrestler, manager, valet, or referee, you could email me at NGWRep2005@aol.com
and we could set up a future interview.
There has been a match I’ve been contemplating about over and over again.
That match is a barbed-wire match. I remember back in 1999 when we were setting up the proposed backyard/trampoline wrestling federation in Keene, New Hampshire, I was going to work a program with Matt Henry, the co-owner. I proposed the idea of us having a barbed-wire match. Immediately, Matt would not have it, saying it would be TOO DANGEROUS. Maybe for Slaughter at the Shore I’ll take part in that very match dubbed TOO DANGEROUS.
I saw my godson last month. He’s absolutely adorable and I’m honored to be
his godmother.
Our biggest show of the year Mutiny is almost here. As producer and director,
I’m working very hard to make this show a barnburner. I’m confident that
Mutiny III will be better than Mutiny II.
I look forward to seeing you at the matches.
Love you all,
Gia Savitz
