The rivalry between Triple H and Chris Jericho actually began a month prior to their match, when during the ten-man tag team main event pitting the Perfect Team and Triple H against the Syndicate and Taz, miscommunication led to the Game kneeing Jericho in the head. Jericho, of course, did not take this well, and charged Triple H with failing to live up to the standards of the PT. Triple H tried to dodge this challenge by offering Bret Hart -- the man he'd beaten for the Intercontinental title -- a rematch, but the Hit Man stepped aside, offering him up to Jericho. In their match, Jericho was able to lock on the Liontamer for the submission, and declared Goldberg's Revolution title to be "next."
