After the demise of the OWF, the NOWF quickly opened up shop. Since the reigning OWF World Champion, Psycho Sid Vicious, was not welcome in the NOWF, a new champion was to be crowned in a special one-night tournament on the first show. A field of sixteen dedicated competitors squared off over the course of the night, and, in the end, there were only two remaining. The final match came down to the Franchise Shane Douglas, and Hollywood Hogan of the New World Order. Hogan fought off interference from Taz and managed to nail his Big Leg Drop to take the World Championship for the nWo.
