Interview with Mikey Sixx 01/08/05
Q: Pro-Wrestling RAGE has been running at the Oxygen nightclub for 4 months now, how do you feel its been going?
A: It's been one of the greatest experiences of my life. The atmosphere has been tremendous and the response has only been good. The fans seem to appreciate what we do.
Q: The RAGE fans know you as Mikey Sixx, tell us a little bit about your wrestling style and influences.
A: Well basically what you see in the ring you get on the outside. My influences well we'll start with the obvious, Chris Benoit. I don't know what it is about his style but I just love it. It might be the heart he puts in his matches cause you always know you get 150% when you watch him wrestle. My other two influences are Sting and Bret Hart. With Sting you are talking about my favorite of all time. He just had "It". The thing you need to make it in this business and he was successful. And Bret well he's a canadian hero and probably pound for pound the best wrestler the WWF has ever had....yes I think he's better than Flair.
Q: So you've always enjoyed the mat based/technical/submission style of wrestling. Would you say thats your game plan when it comes to your matches?
A: Most of the time......it all depends on my opponent. Big guys yes that is the plan. Cause you got to cut out a body part......that's mostly my plan with all my matches...take out a body part render it to the point of uselessnes......That's when I strike with my submissions.
Q: We've seen you utilize many different moves to score a pinfall or a submission, do you have anything specific you like to use as a finisher?
A: My main one I like to use is the Crossface. I also incorporate the Sharpshooter. I have some big moves like the Diving headbutt and my Giant DDT that I utilize as well.
Q: You're argueably the most popular superstar in RAGE right now. Why do you feel the fans can relate to you so well?
A: I don't really like to believe that I'm the most popular superstar in RAGE. I'm humbled that you believe so. The only explanation that I could conceive is that when they see me they see your regular average Joe who they can relate to doing something that he loves with all of his heart and shows it in the ring.
Q: After the #1 Contender Battle Royal was ruined you became involved in a 4 man tournament that put you in the finals against Bull Reed. Take me through that match?
A: Well before the match ever started everyone thought that I was afraid to go toe to toe with Reed, including himself. So my first thought was to get it in his head that he was in for the fight of his life, that I wasn't going to backdown. He brought his best and I took it with all I could but in the end he outsmarted me when I let my emotions get the best of me.He gave me his best and I got beat. Plain and simple. I have no qualms about losing. The better man won, but Bull Reed knows not to underestimate me the next time we clash.

A: Gotcha.
