Greg Banks from Brawl and Christina York from Carnage welcomed everyone at the Bell Center in Montreal to SIW Meltdown 2005 and introduced the General Managers Titan and Shelby Kirby. Shelby went over the matches and stipulations and then Titan bet Shelby 100$ that her brother Glenn wouldn’t even get past Mohamed Abdul Sheik and would waste his last entry position in the Chamber. Titan made fun of the French heritage in Quebec and then asked what all the hype was about for Angel the former SIW World Champion. He called him overrated, washed up and a has-been. The lights went dim and then Angel appeared from behind. Shelby, Greg and Christina left the ring but Titan didn’t care. Titan swung and missed and Angel smashed his purgatory guitar over Titan’s head. He fell to one knee but managed to execute The Giant Chokeslam. Titan decided that Angel’s return match on Monday Night Brawl would be against none other than The Giant himself.
The SIW Women’s Championship was on the line in the first match of the night. Latesha took on Angelica Hunt in a classic match for the most prestigious women’s title in sports entertainment. Just one night before, Latesha cost Angelica her non-title match against Christina after interfering. Latesha sent Angelica in the corner and then missed a closeline. Angelica went for the A-Bomb Drop but then Christina came out. In a split second, Angelica turned her attention to Christina and then from behind Latesha delivered a reversed neck breaker. Latesha won the match after executing the Hell’s Message and won the SIW Women’s Championship after pinning her. Christina laughed and went back to her dressing room.
Greg Banks got a few words from Angel before the next match. Angel said that he wasn’t scared of Titan and that he was more than willing to defeat him. He pointed out that Titan swung first and he suffered a purgatory to the head as a result. He said he was glad to be back and that he would be watching the elimination chamber match very closely and wished them all luck.
The next match got under way and was a four way 60 minute iron man match for the SIW Lightweight Championship. The undefeated champion James Airington took on Mysery, Rikki Cook and Bryan Graves. Last Thursday, before Mysery came out for his wedding, someone left him in a pool of his own blood and left a note saying “See you at Meltdown”. H-Bomb accompanied her fiancé and held a black bat for when the culprit showed up. Rikki Cook got the first decision at eight minutes after he hit Graves with the High Temperature and pinned him. Mysery also pinned Graves four minutes later at 12:01 after delivering the Deadmark. James Airington sent Mysery to the outside and nailed Graves and Cook with a Double closeline. He delivered the Airington Star Press to Bryan Graves and pinned him to get his first decision at 25:54. At the 55 minute mark, Graves was left outside with a busted knee cap and Mysery scored the upset roll up to get a quick pin over Airington and lead the match with two decisions. Arington evened things up after countering the roll up and tied the match. The match ended when Mysery’s attacker was revealed. Mysery nailed Cook with a evenflow DDT and went for the pin and from the crowd, “Powerhouse” Tim Smith knocked out H-Bomb with a head butt and pulled Mysery out of the ring. Airington pinned Cook instead to get his third and winning decision. Smith left Mysery motionless in the middle of the ring after executing The Decapitator.
60 Minute Iron Man Match Decisons:
1. 8:00 Rikki Cook pinned Bryan Graves
2. 12:01 Mysery pinned Bryan Graves
3. 25:54 James Airington pinned Bryan Graves
4. 55:03 Mysery pinned James Airington
5. 55:06 James Airington pinned Mysery
6. 59:32 James Airington pinned Rikki Cook
After the intense 60 minute iron man match, James Airington grabbed his title, walked backstage and knocked on Envy’s door. She answered wearing a very formal attire. Earlier in the month she accepted to go out on a date with him if he successfully defended his SIW Lightweight championship and Airington did just that at Meltdown. They left the Bell Center together and dined at the Old Port of Montreal.
The former SIW Tag Team champions Bad Breed, Phillip Arceneaux and Brandon Clayborne were interviewed by Christina York backstage and they shocked everyone telling everyone that Meltdown was their last SIW show. They threatened that if one of them won the elimination chamber, they would take the SIW World Championship and leave the promotion with it.
After a commercial for SIW’s biggest PPV of the year, Wrestlefest 2005, the SIW European Championship was up for grabs as Glenn Kirby took on his arch enemy Mohamed Abdul Sheik who was accompanied by Jaffar. Throughout the month of February Mohamed and Jaffar have made Glenn and Shelby’s lives a living hell. Meltdown was suppose to end their feud once and for all or did it? The winner of the match would move on to the elimination chamber and last night in Verdun, Glenn Kirby won a Battle Royal to earn the right to enter the chamber last. The match came to an end when Mohamed hit Kirby with a Rude Awakening and went for the pin. The ref counted the three count as Jaffar held Kirby legs. Mohamed and Jaffar celebrated with the European championship until senior referee Sam Carter rushed out and declared Glenn Kirby the winner by disqualification due to interference. Jaffar punched out Carter as Abdul kicked down the A.O.A in the corner. The chaos ended when SIW’s Chief Of Security Polar rushed out and leveled Jaffar with a Gore and nailed Sheik with the Polar Express Powerslam.
As Polar raised Glenn Kirby’s hand in victory, Mohamed’s cousin Rashad came on the TrevorTron via satellite from Atlanta, Georgia and said within seconds the Kirby residence was to be blown up. The house exploded and there is no word if anyone was in the house. Jimmy Hayden and Travis Dunns asked the crowd and the millions watching on PPV to pray that no one was in the residence at the time of the explosion.
Everyone’s favorite SIW superhero The Uncanny Inferno took on his former friend and tag team partner “Straight Edge” Mike London in a memorable match. The winner of this match would make it in the chamber. London almost won the match as he went for the Spinal Trauma but Inferno countered into his own version of the maneuver and then executed the Meteor Drop to pin him for the win. Inferno received a huge ovation as earned a spot in the chamber and had himself the opportunity to become a two time SIW World Champion.
Greg Banks was in the parking lot and a black limo appeared. The SIW Tag Team Champions stepped out but refused to be interviewed. The SIW North American Champion “Primetime” Ryan Johnson and David Von Ramrock then dragged Banks in the washroom and flushed his head in a toilet that had urine.
The night before in Verdun, Metalgod defeated Drako and Ian Bishop in a triple threat hardcore match for the SIW Extreme Championship. Ian lost a large amount of blood and was unable to compete at Meltdown. He was replaced by Metalgod as he put his newly won title on the line against Drako. The former champion whipped Metalgod into the commentary table hurting his ribs. Drako then suplexed Metalgod threw the Spanish table but wasn’t able to pin the champion. The match ended when they took the match backstage and Metalgod laid out a bunch of linear lights on the ground. He delivered a God Bomb on the lights and pinned Drako to retain the SIW Extreme Championship.
The Main Event was probably the most brutal matches the SIW has seen in a long time. For those of you that are not familiar with the elimination chamber, it’s a cage that consists of six chambers and six participants where a new one is released from their chamber every five minutes. Glenn Kirby was the last entrant but had a lot on his mind since his parents were feared dead, many questioned if he had it in him to win the company’s most prized possession. Clayborne and Arceneaux were the first two entrants and got the match underway until the clock hit the the five minute mark and the SIW Tag Team Champion David Von Ramrock was released and laid out Bad Breed in no time. Ramrock drop kicked Clayborne into the side of the chamber face first and then hit Arceneaux with the Ramrock Shock and pinned him. Ramrock continued dominating the match until The Uncanny Inferno stepped in at ten minutes and nailed Ramrock with knee to his back. Inferno and Ramrock were fighting on the steel. Inferno hit a bulldog on Ramrock face first onto the steel. Ramrock was busted wide open. Inferno pinned Clayborne.
The SIW Tag Team and North American Champion “Primetime” Ryan Johnson was released and unleashed on the Uncanny one. Primetime whipped Inferno to the turnbuckle and leveled him with a corner splash. As he whipped him into the other corner, Inferno knocked down a camera man as well as the referee. Kirby had to wait before entering and had to watch Ramrock and Primetime beat the hell out of Inferno. Ramrock held him from behind and Primetime went to smash the camera but Inferno ducked and Primetime smashed Ramrock in the face knocking him out to the canvas. Inferno was bleeding through his mask but still managed to hit Primetime with the Shinning Wizard and pinned him after delivering the Meteor Drop. The A.O.A finally entered and from behind, Ramrock pushed him into Inferno sending them both crashing into the cage. The match ended when Ramrock executed a Flying Forearm Smash and then pinned Inferno after delivering The Rammer. Ramrock lifted his arms in victory but from behind he was greeted by a devastating Thug Bug and got pinned. Before the PPv went off the air, Inferno raised Glenn Kirby’s arm in victory as the Authority Of Atlanta fulfilled his dream of becoming SIW World champion.
