"The group that strikes fear in, well, no one." WCW Circa 1998 WCW's Cruiserweight division was one of the high spots since 1996 in a company where not a lot made sense. Well, Billy Kidman had just became a strong face and was Crusierweight Champion. Well, someone decided that he needed to face strong heels. Thus the LwO was born.
Eddie Guerrero came out and said that the Lucha Libres is where the high flying style was born and it was a disgrace that an American was Crusierweight Champion. He got most of the Crusierweight; Juventud Guerrera, Silver King, Psicosis, La Parka, Damien, Villano IV and V, El Dandy, and.. WAIT EL DANDY. Yeah, you can see why this group didnt get that well over. There was a saving grace however, Rey Mysterio Jr. Yes, Eddy and Juventud kept telling Rey to join the LwO and if he didn't, he would be turning against his heritage. Rey relunctly joined, but seemed to help Kidman. Kidman usually would beat one or two members in a match, then get attacked by the whole group with Rey either not getting involved or stopping them. At Starrcade 98 there was a Triangle match with Kidman defending against Rey and Juventud. Billy won, and Eddy went into the ring and yelled at Rey. Eddy then challenged Billy to a title match right then, which Billy also won.
Days later, on New Year's: Eddy Guerrero was involved in a terrible car wreck that took him out of action for the first five or so months of 1999, and the LwO angle was dropped, thank GOD.
