Imagine yourself stepping out onto the mat for the very first time as a Wrestler. As you look around the mat you find yourself trembling inside a lot, maybe even confused as to what is going on. The crowd around you is yelling, your teammates are chanting your name, your coach is giving you last minute reminders and then the whislte blows. Everything goes by so fast. It goes by just as fast as time does. I can still remember the first time I stepped on the mat my Freshman as a Wyandotte Wrestler. You didn't see too much of this site. You saw a very thin crowd and a team that had not gone very far before. Wrestling in Wyandotte has come a long way since this point in time. At that time it was the last year of the Wolverine A Conference,1992-1993.
The only true history at this point in time was a fifth place finish in the State. This was by our Head Coach, at that time, Larry Buindo back in 1978. But as they say give a little time and hard work and great things will come. In 1993-1994 Season was our first Leaugue Championship in the Michigan Mega Conference Blue Division. The following three seasons we captured more Mega Conference titles. We captured one more Blue and then two White. We then found our current home in the Mega RED Division.
Along with the chamionships came many league champions and among that State qualifiers, placers, and a two-time state champion. As a team we have also won two district championships,1997-1998 and 1999-2000.
