The scene opens backstage at the arena where nWn will bring Hysteria tonight in Phoenix, Arizona. Many matches are set to take place, and it looks to be a promising show. One of those matches, a tag team match with a special Scaffold Grude Stipulation added to it, includes Jeff Jarrett, Tre Smith, Goldberg and Goldust. One of those participants, Jeff Jarrett, stands by with "Mean" Gene Okerlund backstage ready for an interview. Our cameras get a shot of them standing there, as the interview begins...
Gene Okerlund: "Jeff Jarrett, tonight on Hysteria you team up with a man that calls himself the "Ginuine Article" Tre Smith to take on the bizarre team of Goldust, and Goldberg. What are your thoughts on this match?"
Jeff Jarrett: "Hell before I get to my opponents I would like to say a little something about Tre Smith. He thinks That I can't hold my own in the ring? Well I can! And I will tonight when I AM THE ONE to get the win 1..2..3, because I am, not Tre, I AM the nWn's best Star right now, like it or don't like it. Tre can say how damn good he is, and how much he is going to hurt Goldust, but that is all good and well except he doesn't get the idea straight that his partner is ME! J..E..double-F..J..A..double-R..E..double-T..JEFF DAMN JARRETT! So he had better smarten up, and watch what he says or that slapnut may feel the stroke of Jeff Jarrett as well."
Gene: "Now that you told us about Tre, now, about your.."
Jeff Jarrett: "Exactly about my opponents, what about 'em? What can you say good about Goldberg and Goldust? They are the Gold Guys? They are the Golden Girls? They are the Goldylocks of the NWN? They are the Dustberg Goldy Rhodes, hell, they are confusing..Anyways, Those two slapnuts have no chance in hell if they think they are going to walk out the winners in this match. Double J did not come to the National Wrestling Network to LOSE his matches. Double J came here to win and to succeed..Two things I will not let surpass me tonight on Hysteria. My record at the end of the night will read 1-0, and if those other two, nah make it those other three slapnuts don't like that then too damn bad. Double J is on a mission, and that is to make my point be heard loud and clear. My point being is that I..Am The Chosen One. I am NWN's Chosen One, I am CEO Sinclair's...Chosen One. I am the man that will eventually lead the NWN to the top. But for now, I am where I am and I will conquer what I have set before me. This Tag Team match is absolutely nothing compared to some of the matches I've been in in the past. Given, its a damn Scaffold Match, but there ain't a damn problem with that. I will get as rough as anyone else will, and I will fight as hard, as long, and be as tough as I need to be in order to kick ass and win this match-up! This match can get pretty damn brutal, and I myself will make sure the brutalness is done to Goldberg and Goldust. Goldberg, you mainly are my target. I was brought here to take you out and that is my main goal..I hope you realize that slappy. Jeff Jarrett has to go out there, and show you and all of the rest of these slapasses that walk around here that I am no joke, that I can hang with the best of 'em, that I..am truly "The Man". Not you Goldberg. So if you don't like the idea of me being called "The Man", than hell, I don't give a damn!"
Gene: "Well that all well and good but what about.."
Jeff Jarrett: "What about Goldust? Is that what you were gonna ask Double J? Huh? Shut up! Slapass..anyways, about Goldust..where has he been? I haven't seen him. Is he waiting until the last second to show his face, that way he can get backstage and hide with all the other superstars who had been arriving? Hell, I been here for a day and I am waiting, waiting, waiting. I am waiting for the show, for the battle, for the FIGHT! I am waiting until I get to step into an nWn Ring for the first time against two punks named Goldust and Goldberg. Goldust, you walk around in a gold and black outfit, goin' ssss and mmmm all the time..damn boy what in the hell is wrong with you?! Ya used to be cool back in Atlanta, Dustin Rhodes, but now you are just plain..sickening. Yuck, what a freakin' ...FREAK! You Goldust, are nothin' but a fairy...NO NO not in that way! I mean you are like a fairy who flies around, but you are gettin' on my nerves by not showin' the Chosen One some respect by speakin' your mind, so I'm gonna have to swat ya down with my guitar..BANG! Slapass.."
Gene Okerlund: "Well Jeff, thankyou for this interview..but first is there anything else..."
Jeff Jarrett: "You were asking if there is anything else right?...Shut up punk! Goldberg you are my main target here tonight because I know I have to be yours. You got to be pissed at me for runnin' you down and who wouldn't? I'm sick and tired of you Goldberg, you are a discrace to the wrestlin' world and I am gonna make sure you don't stink up the nWn any longer..or any other fed for that matter. After this Scaffold Match, you won't be able to move. Because you will get your ass seriously injured, BET ON IT! Oh, Goldust, don't think I won't do a damn thing to your ass. If Tre Smith doesn't get the job done, then hell I may even have to kick your ass as much as I did Goldberg's! So boys, get ready to rumble, because Tonight the NWN Sees the Chosen One in the ring for the first time, and tonight, ITS WIN NUMBER ONE! So why don't-cha choke on THAT..Slapnutz!"
With that said, Jarrett pushes Gene out of the way and walks down the hallway with a purpose. Gene turns towards the camera with a few last words.
Gene Okerlund: "Jeff Jarrett seems ready for tonight as Hysteria comes to you live from Phoenix, Arizona! Don't miss it!"
