I totally forgot about this page. I promise I wasn't trying to avoid the subject.
Visualization is actually a very important part of Wicca. For some people this comes naturally, others, like me, have to work at it. Visualization comes in handy during rituals and spells. We all know how hard it is to picture the magick circle around us. Practicing your visualization techniques can make it easier to "see" that wonderful little bubble that protects us during spellwork.
As time passes you will become better at visualization (I promise). Once visions come to you easier, you can use it to your advantage. If you can "see" the outcome of a spell, it makes it all the more powerful. So, next time you are firing up your green candle for a money spell, picture the bills in your pocket or wallet. I guarantee it will help.
So how do I practice, you ask? Well its actually quite simple. I usually try to start with something simple... like the alphabet, or maybe the numbers from one to ten. Silver RavenWolf's book To Ride a Silver Broomstick suggests this technique. Picture the number one and hold it in your mind for as long as you can. As the image starts to slip, picture the number two...and so on. Not having the image slip, should be your long term goal. Notice I said "long term". Remember everything takes practice. Your short term goals should be focused on how long you can hold the images.
As you progress you can build up to more complicated objects. I started with things like pen lids, beads and eventually moving up to apples, chairs and doors. I have yet to picture someones face perfectly in my mind... that's my next goal. Silver RavenWolf again suggests drawing the image after picturing it. It helps you to get to know the object you are trying to memorize. See how close your drawing is to what the object actually looks like.
Well this is where I wish you good luck. You don't have to practice visualization at all if you don't want to. But, remember the only way to process in Wicca is to learn.
