A woman will throw out an average of 10,000 - 15,000 menstrual products in her lifetime. That is more than sixteen shopping carts full. Half the population of the Earth is made up of women.
Tampons and pads are made of plastics and bleached paper... these things may take thousands of years to break-down. What's worse is that most pads are wrapped in their plastic wrapper, which means they may never breakdown.
Many women who have stopped using tampons have done so because they are dry and potentially dangerous. But we also all know that they are much more convinent than pads.
