Chapter 4, Part One ~Eli
Zirconia said it again, "I asked you what you were not going to tell Maeve!" When we were still quiet see her eyes started turning black and she started a flame in her hand. So finally Lana said, 'Eli found Medwin in here and Medwin left our mothers necklace.'
When Zirconia heard that her eyes went totally white. We started talking telepathically because we didn't want Taylor to find out and some how tell Maeve. As we were talking Taylor saw a small wooden box under the bookshelf. He picked it up and opened it. He saw it was a small cross with flowers and vines on it. He said, "I wonder who would wear something this weird looking."
When I, Eli, heard him say that and saw what he was referring to my rage built. I quickly grabbed the cross from him and started a very powerful wind that would have broken every bone in his body when he hit the wall.
As the wind was nearing him a counter wind hit it and stopped it totally. I looked over there to see Caly, Zirc's best friend since she was a baby, standing there. She said, "Up to your evil tricks again, Eli?" I then replied, "No, it is that I will not have anyone talk about this necklace that way." As I said this I gave Taylor this glance of pure hatred. I put on the necklace and left.
"Caly!!!!!!" yelled Zironica. "Oh my, girly!! How are you? How did you know we were here? How did you get here? How come you came to see us after all this time?"
"Whoa, hold your horses. First of all, I'm fine. Second of all, I'm a sorceress. I'm a friend of the Hanson family, and I really wanted to see you, so I grabbed a ride with them!" replied Caly with a smile. I was staying in the shadows, and Caly saw this.
"Hey, Lana! How are you doing? Long time, no see!" said Caly, trying not to laugh at my shyness. "Lana, it's me, Caly! Are you in there?" she said, waving a hand in front of my face. Suddenly, I ran to Caly and gave her the strongest hug I had ever given anyone. "Hey! What was that for?" Caly asked. "Zironica has been a grump ever since you left, and now that you're back, she won't be as grumpy!" Eli, who heard this through Dermott, had to have a little laugh here. I guess he thought I sister could be funny when I want to be. Zirconia's eyes slow turned from light blue to pale red. "Uh oh. Now I'm in for it!!" I screeched. With that Zirconia started running towards me, but I saw what was coming, and quickly dodged her. I stuck her tongue out at my sister. :oP
"Why you little.........."

“Mackie!! Mackie, where are you?” I watched Mrs. Hanson as she called for her youngest son. I spied the blond toddler crouching behind some holly bushes, so I picked him up, ending his game of hide-and-seek.
“Oh thank you Caly. I don’t know what I’d do without you. With you and the boys getting this new teacher, and all this traveling, it’s been mayhem trying to keep track of everyone.” I balanced Mackie on my hip, as always, and smiled at her. “It’s my pleasure, Diana.”
She had insisted on me calling her Diana ever since I came to live with them four years ago. My parents had forbidden me to see my best friend ever again, and forced me to do my lessons at home and only leave for shopping with my mother, and that was a very rare occurrence. Finally I couldn’t take it anymore, so I packed all that I could and boarded the first boat headed for America, where my uncle lived. He died within 3 months of my coming to live with him. In those three months, I had been introduced and became good friends with the Hansons and their children.
After my uncle died, they took me in and I had been living with them ever since, as sort of a governess to their younger children. Now, here we all were in Saint Bay's Harbor, awaiting the arrival of the new teacher. I looked around for my best friend, Taylor. He was nowhere in sight. Beginning to get a bit concerned, I asked the teacher, what was her name, Maeve, if she saw where he had gone. She pointed towards the ship. I was able to distinguish a few familiar forms. Not just Taylor’s, but a couple others, ones I hadn’t seen in years.
Handing Mackie to Mrs. Hanson, I took off running after them. Isaac and Zac watched in suprise at my speed. I knew something was wrong. I got there just in time to see Eli, the reason for my anguish, about to unleash his anger on the only one who has understood me these past years. I predicted his moves and countered it with one of my own spells. After his strike had dissolved, he glared in my direction with a look that could kill. Taylor looked at me in suprise, and Zirc just screamed “Caly!!!!”
“So, planning on physically damaging any other defenseless kids today?” I commented.
“He mocked Crystal’s necklace. Even you know how much that means to me,” came the sharp reply.
“Yes, but that’s still no reason to inflict bodily harm on him. He didn’t know the significance of it. I’m sure he would’ve shown more respect...”
I was rudely interrupted by him. “Just keep him out of my way, or you’ll find him in a thousand pieces.”
I looked him dead in the eyes and stared him down until he looked away. “If you dare touch him again, and I swear by all the elements, not even Medwin would be able to conjure up anything to help what I’ve done to you.” He walked away in a huff over to where Maeve was standing.
Zirc gave me a weird look. “Just don’t ask,” I said.
I woke up the next day and found myself in a bedroom at a local inn. I was sharing a large room with Lana, Caly, Jessie, and Avie. It was a tight squeeze into the two large beds, but Lana and I shared one and Caly shared with the two smaller girls. Maeve, Diana and Mackie had shared another room; with Maeve in one bed and Diana and Mack in the other. Eli, Walker, Ike, Tay, and Zac had slept on the ship; mainly so the three could get used to it.
I rolled over and found Lana still sound asleep. I quietly climbed out of bed and looked over at the other side of the room, finding Caly missing.
"Caly, where are you?" I asked telepathically. "Morning Zirc. I'm down in the breakfast room. Come join me," she responded. I quickly threw on some clothes and shoes, then quietly exited the room. "Caly, we have some major catching up to do!" I exclaimed as I sipped my hot cocoa. She gave me her familiar smile. "I know. What's life been like for you?"
After breakfast we went back upstairs and got Lana, Jess, Avie, Maeve, Mackie, and Diana. Then we headed down to the docks to meet the guys. (Well, we know Mack's a guy, but he's still a little dude. You know what I mean!!)
Once we arrived at the docks, all of us bid farewell to Walker, Diana, Jessie, Avie, and Mackie. They wanted to get back to Tulsa as soon as possible. Soon it was just Maeve, Eli, Caly, Lana, Isaac, Taylor, Zac, and I.
"All right. I would like to take a few moments to let you know more about what we will be teaching you three," Maeve began. "You have not just come to be tutored in your normal subjects. You are going to learn sorcery."
The three fell silent, and stared at us. "What about Caly?" Isaac asked. Caly exchanged a glance with me. "I'm already a trained sorceress," she told them. They all stared at her. "And you never told us?" Zac said incredulously. Caly swallowed hard. "There's a lot you don't know about me," she said in a soft voice.
Maeve shushed them. "Come now. I would like the Hansons to find out what type of sorcery we all specialize in. I am just a teacher, a friend, and a guardian to my friends Eli, Zirconia, and Lana. I know the basics of every power. They all are a sorcerer or sorceress of a certain thing." She sent us a message, and Eli stood up. "I am the Sorcerer of Wind. That means I have control over any type of wind."
With that statement, Eli held out his hand and a small breeze circled around us. Then he made a fist and it stopped. "I also have another power," Eli continued. "I can see and hear anything Dermott can." Taylor gave him a weird look. "The hawk?" he questioned. Eli nodded, then sat back down. I stood next.
"I am the Sorceress of Fire," I explained. Zac smiled. "Cool!" he exclaimed. I smiled back. Then I turned and pointed at a small pile of brush that sat next to us. It lit up into flames. When I moved my finger, it slowly formed the shape of a dragon, then a bear. "Whoa..." I heard Isaac mumble. I quickly snapped my fingers and the flames disappeared. "Also, my eyes. They change color with my emotion. You'll get used to it after awhile. Just to name a few, blue means I'm thinking, red means I'm angry, and black is the peak of my anger." I couldn't decide whether or not to tell them about how I could sense other's emotions. I asked Maeve, and she told me to wait.
Lana hopped up with a smile. "I am the Sorceress of Light," she told them. "I can sense when another sorcerer or sorceress is around, and whether they are good or evil. Also, I can control color." Zac looked at her. "Color?" Lana nodded. "Yep! Color is light." With that she flicked her wrist and made Zac's golden hair turn bright pink. "Holy... pink? Why pink of all colors?!" Zac exclaimed good-naturedly. Lana shrugged. "Sorry." She snapped her fingers and his hair returned to the normal color.
The room was silent. "Wow. That's pretty cool." Taylor said at last. Ike and Zac nodded their agreement. Maeve gestured at Caly. "Your turn." Caly stood and flipped her long dark hair back over her shoulder. "The Sorceress of Elements. The elements of nature, that is. I can create hurricanes, tornadoes, all in that such. I'm the source of natural disasters," she added with a laugh. "Also, I can do this." She closed her eyes and slowly faded into nowhere. "Can you see me?" she asked.
Isaac shook his head in disbelief. "No." I laughed. Caly made herself visible again. "We also all know how to speak telepathically," Maeve said. "And that is the first thing we are going to teach you how to do."
