Blood And Salvation
Summary
Daniel Llanso is a hellspawn that has betrayed his fellow demons and is now working for heaven. The humans that
have survived Judment Day have gathered in an abonded train station were they prepare themselves for Armageddon,
the final fight between good and evil.
In the mean while is Llanso bringing an angel to life to aid him in his fight against the anti-pope, who is
the face of evil on earth. The angel starts to fight against the hellspawn and walks away. He soon finds himself
in a nasty situation fighting against one of hell's warriors a creature named Flesh, who tries to skin the Angel
named Abel. Offcourse spawn defeates the demon and takes the angel to the anti-pope's church. The humans have been
ready prepairing themselves and are ready to get one their armored train to fight the demons. The train's speed
increases while the fight against the demons starts. Spawn and Abel have arrived at the church and come face to
face with the anti-pope, who is easily defeated, but a little surprise awaits in the shadows. Deurge, a fallen
god, is their next enemy to defeat. Spawn is the one to kill the ex-god, who didn't expect the spawn to be so strong.
The humans are still fighting for their lives in the train, which speeds towards the anti-poe's church and evil's
headquarters. It becomes clear that the train loaded with explosives is on a suicide course and 2 humans can get
of it in time and see the building explode. The last images are of the 2 humans looking at a brand new world, with
no good nor evil, which has to start all over again.
My Opinion
The artwork was good as always and in some cases even brilliant, but the story read like a bad sequel to a
horror movie. Maybe this was the idea behind the story, but the cliché characters and plot and the overused
bible sequences made it a less than good read. Normally I read a comic without pausing, but this time I had to
take multiple breaks and wasn't interested in the book.
At the end the story interested me again and the tension was build up very well. I disliked the way Spawn and Abel
got of the incarnations of evil. No big fight, just quick finishes, very dissapointing.
The artwork was good, but lacked colour and emotions most of the time. I think Ange could have done much better.
A mediocre sequel to Curse of the Spawn and Blood and Shadows.
