Do you Remember
The Treehole
On a cold, dark night when the air was beastly cold;
Bein' jest a young'un I wasn't all that bold...
When nature called I had to face winter's wrath!
No indoor plumbing: we had a house with a path!
I pulled on my boots and groped for my mackinaw:
A dark path was waitin', and fear began to gnaw....
I thought about sneakin' an' usin' Granny's thunder mug;
But what I'd git for that shore wouldn't be a hug!
Duty was callin', and they wasn't enny time to spare:
Made no diff'runce what was waitin' fer me out there!
