Information and All You Need To Know!

Brian Thomas Littrell was born on February 20 1975, in St. Joseph Hospital, the second son for his parents Jackie and Harold.

When Brian was five years old, he was diagnosed with a staph infection(a disease of the blood and the heart), partially because he was born with a hole in his heart and had a heart murmur-but he and his family didn't know it until he got sick. He had been riding his Big Wheel when it flipped over and he skinned his knee. Normally that wouldn't have been a big deal, because he wasn't really hurt, but a couple of weeks later, when the family was at his grandfather's house, Brian slipped, fell, and he hit his head pretty badly. His parents took him to the hospital because they were worried he might have a concussion. This accident turned out to be very lucky, because it was at the hospital that they discovered he had this very serious, even deadly infection, which had set in two weeks earlier when he scraped his knee. He ended up staying in the hospital for two months because his was very weak and sick from the infection.

At this time, the prognosis was very bad. His doctors believed he had no chance of surviving the illness; they even told his parents to start making funeral arrangements! His mother was totally distraught by this news and prayed in church for her son's recovery. Eventually the infection started to clear up and then completely went away! Brian and his family thanked God for this miracle.

It took some time for Brian to get back on his feet and do things that most healthy, vigarous five-years olds do, but once he did, he never stopped! He started to play some soccer, because he loved to be able to run around, especially since he knew what it was like to be stuck in a hopsital(for a five-year old two months is a very long time!). His parents, however, were still worried about Brian's weak heart and didn't want him to overdo it. Eventually, though, he started to play basketball in a church league, which he still loves to play to this day.

Religion always played a big part in the Littrell family life, and because of that, they also had an appreciation for music. Both of his parents loved to sing in their Baptist church choir. Brian had to spend many Sundays at church. But then Brian also joined the choir and discovered his own love for music and his own talent for singing. He had his first solo in front of a congregation of fifteen hundred people when he was only six or seven years old. Later, he was often asked to sing in other churches in his region or even at weddings. Along with older cousin Kevin, to whom Brian was very close, he would sing at family gatherings. They loved to perform standards from barbershop quartets, fifties-style doo-wop, and contemporary hits.

As Brian grew a little older, he also found a love for pop music and spent a lot of time listening to Top 40 and urban radio stations to hear his favorite artists such as MC Hammer and Boyz II Men. He ten became more familiar with smooth sounds of R&B singers and especially came to admire Luther Vandross, whom he now counts as one of his influences.

When Brian was in high school he got a call from cousin Kevin to come down to Florida to audition for a new boy singing group. Up until that point, he had never really considered singing professionally, especially since his only performing experiencehad been singing in church choirs. But luckily for Backstreet Boys fans everywhere, Brian Littrell had his eyes open and was able to recognize this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. When he got down to Florida, Brian had a crash course in show business and hasn't looked back!

Brian would describe himself as athletic and humorous. He could also add outgoing to the list, but he hasn't always been that way.Being in the group has brought Brian out of his shell. He says that he used to be more timid about what he did, especially in public, and now that he is older and world famous, he is more relaxed and comfortable with himself.

Brian is a self-admitted clown. However, he also reveals that he is a deep person as well. The other guys back it up: Kevin says that Brian is a real clown, while A.J. reveals that Brian cries when he is happy, like when their album went gold.

Brian sends a lot of time thinking and talking about things. He wants people to see both sides of his personality because he doesn't want to come across as someone who is always clowning around. Onstage or with fans, he puts on his funny side, because "I want people to see the happy me, as that's who I am 99 percent of the time," he said in an interview for Top Of the Pops magazine. To show the sensitive side of his nature, he tries to be very honest in interviews so the fans can see what he's all about.

So, what is he like the other one percent of the time, when he is not happy? He admits that there are days when, just like anyone else, he can be a real grouch if he woke up on the wrong side of bed or didn't get enough sleep. How does he deal with the other Boys when he's like that? With honesty. He simply tells them that he is not in a good mood, and since they spend soo much time together and know each other so well, they step off and leave him alone without taking it personally.

Brian likes being close to people and considers himself to be a warm guy. He has a healthy, laid-back attitude about those who "kiss and tell"-he knows that there are people who gossip and spin stories out there, but he doesn't let that bother him or stop him from doing what he wants to do. He doesn't think that it is worth wasting time worrying or not enjoying himself for fear of people spreading gossip. He just lives his life.

One of the things he misses the most when he is on the road with the guys is his own bed. Brian has a king-size waterbed that he bought for $50 which he loves to sleep in when he's home. Often about his bed is the thing that him the most homesick.

How does Brian spend a fun Friday night when he is home? Chilling with his three best friends, going to catch a movie, scarfing down a huge bucket of popcorn(which he loves), maybe going out for dinner afterwards or meeting up with other friends. Brian isn't picky, he just likes hanging.

Nick and Brian are very close. However, the two of them can be very competitive, especially when it comes to sports, particularly basketball, which is Brian's fave sport. He and Nick shoot hoops whenever they can, but Nick doesn't like loosing to Brian. The two also love to play Nintendo together, which can sometimes get very competitive!

Brian sometimes likes attention-and he knows how to get it. If A.J. strikes up a conversation, Brian can steal the scene by jumping around, making funny faces like a monkey, and doing other silly things. Brian defends his comedic antics by saying that he gets his silly side from his fanily. He explains that they are always trying to make each other laugh or do funny things to one another.

Brian is one of the Boys with a southern accent, which he gets teased a lot for in Orlando, since most people who live there don't have any specific kind of accent. The Boys sometimes rag Brian about being a bit of a bumpkin, but they really don't think of him like that.

Brian knows that it is because of the group's fame that they recieve special treatment and get to hang out with an elite group of celebrities and other famous people in clubs such as the chi-chi Sky Bar at the Mondrian Hotel in Los Angeles, but he and the other guys don't let it go to their heads. They can still be starstruck, like when Cindy Crawford walked past them at the bar and Howie could barely breathe. "But is is weird because your an entertainer-you're put in that postition and we know we're no different than anybody else," Brian says.

Brian claims not to have any deep, dark secrets but he does have some things that he wants to keep private. "You need to keep something for yourself for your own sanity," he says.

Probably Brian's biggest confession-which is no longer a deep and dark secret-is that, like A.J. he bites his finger nails, which he has done his whole life. Even when he was young, his mother was always saying, "Get your fingers out of your mouth!" but he still hasn't been able to break the habit. What is especially embarrassing for him is when he signs autographs girls notice his fingers and say something to him about it, but he still does it. He is also afraid of heights.

Brian also has two scars on his body that aren't often seen. One is on his lower stomach, which he got from having an appendectomy; the other is on his head, from when he had a confrontation with a table when he was twelve.

According to the liner notes for the "I'll Never Break Your Heart" single, Brian says that his nick name B-Rok came from a basketball saying "shoot some rocs."

Brian is a big Mariah Carey fan. In fact, once when he was in London, he waited in a car outside of Tower Reocrds in Piccdilly Circus just to see what the popo diva looked like up close in the flesh.

What is the most important thing he looks for in a girl? He very much wants someone who is her own person, who is independent and successful in her own right. It's not a turn-on for him to have girls be interested in him just because his is in the music business-she has to like him for who he really is. "I find independence very attractive," he says.

Looks-wise, Brian prefers girl with blond or light-brown hair(thought he says that hair color is not important),blue eyes and long nails. Personality-wise, he likes girls who are intelligent, out-going,have a good sense of humor, are determined, and have a lot of energy.

When it comes to dating,Brian says that anyone he dates has to be understanding of his hectic touring schedules. He knows that most girls have a hard time dating someone who is rarely around, so he'd rather work on building a relationship when he is off the road for a period of time. He says timing is very important becuse he believes finding love is all about being in the right place at the right time.

If Brian were your boyfriend, what could he offer you? "A little love, caring, understanding, and emotion," he says. Seems that Brian would some girl a great boyfriend!
