In Cryptorchid Chipmunk, we don't write many songs, we mostly listen to songs we like, steal all the good parts, and fill in the spaces with our own shitty ideas. Here are some examples, i could never list them all, because there are WAY too many. I just thought you all deserved to know how musically unoriginal we are, and to help rid the world of the myths "writing music is hard" or that it takes "talent" to write songs... it does not...
people usually say that they are "inspired" by other bands and then they write their own stuff, well they might, but we don't, we just steal it. good thing you can't patent a bass line. here are some general "inspirations".

Catch22 - WE STOLE NOTHING FROM THEM!!! WE THOUGHT OF USING LOTS OF ROUGH DRUM TRANSITIONS FOR EFFECT BEFORE EVEN HEARING THEM! anyway...
The Aquabats - We already wanted to write funny songs, but the gave us the idea to write lyrics that either didn't make much sense or were just strange
NOFX(Melvin) - the screaming thing as a backup vocal part

Hootie and the Blowfish- countless chord progressions

Nerf Herder- a whole shit load of chord progressions

Various Hardcore bands that josh likes- lots of drum beats
