Cynthia attended the same college as John Lennon. They shared a class for 'Lettering'. However, the class was full of girls similar to Cyn's character, and John, being John, stuck out. She recalls her first impression of him to have "frightened her". They began to talk, finding out they had shortsidedness in common.
One day out at a local pub, John asked Cyn for a dance. She said No. And when John asked why she replied, that she was engaged. John said, "I didn't ask you to marry me!" They began dating soon after.
Cynthia married John Lennon on August 23rd, 1962 after finding out she was pregnant. April 8,1963 John Charles Julian Lennon was born. It would be a week before John could come see the baby, the Beatles were on tour.
John and Cynthia's marriage, and the baby were kept a secret from the fans, for fear that they wouldn't like the Beatles any longer. Eventually, the secret leaked out. John and the others did their best to deny it, but Cyn came forward and said that she was John's wife, and Julian was her son, but she lied about Julian's age-to the point where she almost forgot it!
Everything went better than expected, Cynthia was actually liked by the fans, as well as Julian. No one seemed to mind that John was married, and had a family. In reality, John really didn't. He hardly spent time with Cynthia and Julian, due to the vastly successful Beatles. He was rarely home. And when he was, he was catching up on sleep.
In 1966, the Beatles stopped touring. Cynthia thought this would finally help their marriage, John spending time at home. Instead, it only widened the gaping hole. John was now into drugs. Cynthia, wanting to save her marriage, tried drugs with John, but hated the feeling, and never did it again. Also in 1966, John Lennon met Yoko Ono at the Indica Art Gallery. The Lennon's wouldn't realize this would be the end of their marriage.
Eventually, Yoko got the best of John, he had fallen in love with her. In 1968,John and Cynthia divorced, Cynthia got custody of Julian. After everything, Paul, showed up at Cynthia's and jokingly asked if they could get married. Paul wrote one of his most famous songs, Hey Jude, for Julian.
In 1970,Cynthia married Roberto Bassanini. They soon divorced and she married John Twist. Several years later they too would divorce. She would again, marry. This time a man that she took time to know. His name was Jim Christie, who was teaching Julian how to ride motorbikes in 1982.
A while later, she wrote a book called "A Twist Of Lennon".
