Yoko Ono Biography

Yoko Ono was born in Japan in 1933.She was born into a wealthy banking family.Her family was split up during the 2nd world war.She had to take care of her brothers and sisters.Her childhood was very rough.When the war ended she was sent to Sarah Lawrence School for Girls.She didn't like it very much,and rebelled.She liked art.Soon she became an "underground" artist.She had married Tony Cox and had a daughter,Kyoko.This is in 1963.Tony was artistic and into making films.They made many films together.On November 9,1966,there was an art show at London's Indica Gallery.Yoko's art had gotten a spot in the show.John Lennon was one of the people to attend the show.

There was a painting hanging from the wall,with a ladder going up to it,and a magnifying glass hanging down.So John climbed the ladder,and put the magnifying glass to it.What was being magnifying was the word,YES.John liked it and proceeded throughout the show.They soon began corresponding.John was puzzled by Yoko.He liked her.He liked the way she thought.His marriage to Cynthia was faltering.And now there was no turning back.John was falling in love with Yoko.

Many of John's fans hated her because she had given John an excuse to get out of his rocky marriage with college sweetheart,Cynthia Powell.Even the other Beatles were mad at him,because he was more entranced with Yoko than the Beatles. What NO ONE else understood was that John was in LOVE with Yoko.He didn't care about anyone else's opinions on her,he loved her and nothing was going to stand between them!Yoko already had a child and wanted to desperately have one with John.After several miscarriages,they finally had Sean Ono Taro Lennon.John finally had the child with Yoko,the one he'd been wanting since they got together!With the birth of Sean,John decided to take a break from the music world and take care of the new baby.Yoko was in charge of the business.She brought Lennon's estate to MILLIONS of MILLIONS.Yoko was a smart business woman.In 1980,John decided to come back to music.Sean was 5.And Sean had served as inspiration to the former Beatle.So John and Yoko went into the studio.What came out of that was Double Fantasy.There was a buzz around the music world and the streets that John was coming back with a new album.Then sadly,on Decdmber 8,1980,only weeks after John's retun to the world and music,he was shot dead,in front of Yoko.The killer was Mark David Chapman.

John had lost his life.Yoko had lost the love of her life.Sean and Julian were fatherless.And John's death smashed any hopes of a Beatles reunion.Trying to be strong for Sean,Yoko kept herself together.Although,she found it excrutiatingly hard.Yoko returned to art for a while.She's released a few albums of John's,to keep his memory alive.She has released many books,the Imagine movie,his paintings,and assorted things to keep his memory alive.Yoko raised Sean.Sean is now a musician,like his father.Yoko now enjoys making music,and doing her art.
