Diabetes Links

I have recently developed type II Diabetes. I am presently controlling it through diet and what little excercise I can manage to do. I also take some supplements such as Flax Oil and Milk Thistle.

One of the things I wondered was what should my blood sugar target level be. Fasting level should be less than 105 but not less than 70. Two to four hours after a meal your level should be less than 140.

There are certain foods that should be avoided such as ones that contain lots of sugar, of course, but for me pizza is an absolute no-no. It drives my sugar levels over 250 for hours after eating it so I stay away from it all together. I do sneak and have a chocolate bar once in a while with no adverse affects.

You need to test your sugar often to see how certain foods affect your sugar level.Every person is different. For instance,a little rice does not raise my level much while a little macaroni sends it too high. You might be the exact opposite. Once you know which foods cause a big rise, you can cut down your serving size or avoid that food altogether.
