The Metal News

I had recently read on the SOAE list a rumor of GUARDIAN'S demise. Aparently the rumor was true. I read this in the recent issue (#77) of HM MAGAZINE: "Jamie Rowe of Guardian has an announcement to make: "After months of debate...we have decided to discontinue Guardian as we have known it for the past decade. We still plan to do some things here and there - especially in Latin America. Both Karl (Ney) and David (Bach) have great positions at EMI Music now and it seemed like a good time to 'cease'. Tony and I still plan to make music together with a new project in the very near future (as in now)." Jamie went on to say: "Guardian will always be DAVID, KARL, TONY and JAMIE...if we can't do that, then it really isn't Guardian, is it? We are very much a family!"

Editors comment: I remember back in 1990 when I heard TOMMY LEE of MOTLEY CRUE said something to the effect that if MOTLEY CRUE ever stopped being Vince, Mick, Nikki and himself(Tommy), then it wouldn't be MOTLEY CRUE anymore. Well when Vince was kicked out of The Crue, and John Corobi stepped in, record sales when down and concert attendance went down as well for The Crue. It's probably good that GUARDIAN doesn't try to go the same route, because they probably would suffer a similar fate. But it's my opinion that GUARDIAN will be back so there is no need to mourn!

Here's a Texas sized update from FAITHBOMB.

Manu Lehtinen from Little Rose Productions here, just wanting to let you know about a couple of new releases.

We are proud to release the second album by the mexican death metal -band Lament today! The album is titled "Through The Reflection", it is well produced and it was mastered at Finnvox Studios in Helsinki, Finland. It is the best place for CD mastering in our country, so the quality is really good! And the album has got a nice 8-page, 4-color booklet in it! The music on this one is very cool, melodic and yet heavy death metal! The price is $16.

In the beginning of March we released a limited edition CD-single from Deuteronomium, it contains 3 songs, one from the forthcoming new album, a studio live demo version of it, and a bonus track that will not be found on the album. The price for that single is $2 only!! (Not bad, huh!?!)

The full album by Deuteronomium will be released on April 14, it is titled "Here To Stay" and it will be much heavier than the previous one, "Street Corner Queen". It also sounds more mature and solid. That one was also mastered at Finnvox! To get some idea of what kind of stuff the album will be including, listen to Black Raven and CCR from SCQ -album! You can already order the new album for $16.

Shipping will be added to the total amount. You can place your order via e-mail, snail mail, or fax. Payment should be send in cash USDs or by credit card (ask for details). NO checks or money orders accepted!

* NEW WEBSITE Deuteronomium has also got a new website, it is found in the same address as the old one used to be: http://www.sci.fi/~kpaju The site is still a bit under construction, there will be for example some pictures and sound clips coming up, but you can already surf to the page.

* ANOTHER NEW WEBSITE Little Rose -website will also be born again within a couple of months. Actually the new site is already under construction. With the new site we hope to get rid of the problems we've had with adding new products to the site!

PRESUMED DEAD ZINE, 6325 W. BOEHLKE AVE., MILWAUKEE, WISCONSIN 53223, U.S.A.

Heavy metal veterans Bob Nalbandian, Tobe Baad, and Anthrax vocalist/madman John Bush announce the grand opening of Black Lodge on Wednesday, March 31, 1999, at the newly remodeled Club Lingerie (located at 6507 Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood). Black Lodge will reside at Club Lingerie every Wednesday thereafter and will feature a live DJ cranking out the best classic metal of the ‘70s from artists such as Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, AC/DC, Judas Priest, Thin Lizzy, UFO, Van Halen, KISS, Montrose, etc...as well as real ‘80s metal from Iron Maiden, Metallica, Anthrax, Slayer, Megadeth, Motorhead, Accept, etc...and ‘90s metal bands like Tool, Alice In Chains, Faith No More, Pantera, Prong, and Ministry.

According to Bob Nalbandian, “Other promoters have attempted to do rock nights at various L.A. clubs, but featured primarily disposable hard-rock/pop music of the ‘80s. Our plans are to cover a wide span of great hard rock and metal music from the last three decades, ranging from old-school, progressive, melodic, thrash, hardcore, industrial, and pop-metal artists. We also plan to expose great current rock/metal talent at Black Lodge, especially from artists who rarely receive exposure in Los Angeles, mainly due to the fact that there is not a single radio station in this city that plays anything even remotely heavy! Bands such as Stuck Mojo, System Of A Down, Puya, Grip Inc., Fear Factory, Clawfinger and many other great international bands will also be played, along with the best classic metal.”

In the upcoming weeks Black Lodge will also feature surprise guest DJ’s (a famous rock celeb spinning his/her favorite metal tunes), record release parties, giveaways, drink specials, sponsored events, very special live performances and jams from top metal bands and artists...and, of course, Metal Go-Go Dancers!

Tobe Baad explains, “There are thousands and thousands of fed-up rockers in Los Angeles (and we’re not talking Poison or Warrant fans!) who want nothing more than a cool place to hang out without the nuisance of having lame, streamlined rap/dance music violating their eardrums. At Black Lodge we’ll have GREAT music, HOT dancers, cold drinks, cool people and busloads of beautiful babes at just a minimal admission fee.”

John Bush adds, “Bob, Tobe, and myself have broad metal taste (there is such a thing) and we wish to share it with other maniacs while creating an exciting atmosphere.”

So, why is a high-profile vocalist from the multi-Platinum recording group Anthrax involved in promoting a heavy metal nightclub?? Bush explains: “Born and raised in L.A., and being involved in the music scene since the early ‘80s, I feel very loyal to hard-rock music. I’ve seen trends come and go, but Metal has always been tied to the streets? and Black Lodge is a way for fans of this genre to hear the real deal!”

Loyalty and dedication...two key factors that inspired Nalbandian, Baad and Bush to conceive a metal institution known as the Black Lodge. “The music scene in Los Angeles has gone to shit! The music industry has become almost as corporate as Wall Street, which has had a negative effect on the scene as a whole,” Nalbandian states, continuing, “There is not a single nightclub in Los Angeles that caters to hard rock/ heavy metal clientele, and what we hope to do is create a place where rock and metal fans, musicians, and the like can kick back, drink, and listen to some great music!”

The result is the conception of the ultimate heavy metal nightclub...and perhaps the only nightclub in Hollywood without the attitude, pretentiousness, and costly admission that this city is so well known for (imagine that!). Where most venues and nightclubs in the city charge at least a $15-$20 cover, the price of admission at Black Lodge will be a mere five bucks. Bob, Tobe, and John explain the reasoning behind this: “We’re doing this for the fans of rock/metal music, and being metal fans ourselves, we sympathize with them, so we decided to make the club affordable as well as enjoyable.”

Tobe concludes: “Judging from the response we’ve received thus far?ranging from fans, musicians and actors to strippers and porn stars? Black Lodge seems to be the hot-spot everybody’s been looking for ...so, Let The Party Begin!.”

Black Lodge is a 21 & over nightclub with a full bar and no dress code. For more information, please contact: (323) 960-4355 E-mail: shockwaves@hardradio.com http://www.hardradio.com/shockwaves/shockwaves.html

Editors comment: The reason I included this in the news is that it's good news for Christian groups who want to spread The Word. So bands take advantage of this new place to tell other metal heads about our risen Saviour, Jesus Christ!

There is a new solo project on the way called PUTRIDILLUSION. The sound is best described as HorrorMetal..There should be influences of Goth, Death, Industrial, and Experimental Metal all mixed in together. For more info visit http://listen.to/putridillusion The site is not fully functional yet, but it will be very soon. The music will be very dark and Neil Olivier hopes that this solo project can reach those that he wants to reach. The people that all other bands, would rather not try to reach, because they think there is no way possible to bring them to the lord. But there is a way to reach them, and he believes that this is a good way to bring people to Christ.
