2) Make a quality recording. If your music is poorly produced then I'm not gonna want to play it. However there are the exceptions where a band made a recording that it wasn't top notch but it wasn't horrible either and they still got airplay. I'm sad to say that in the past I've received some metal that was so poorly produced I couldn't bring myself to play it. So when you're in the studio recording, keep in mind that to get your music to the public, radio is a great way. But nobody will play your music if it's not good. So take the time to make a quality recording. Don't rush it just cause you want to get your new tunes out to all your fans.
3) Package your metal (it should be on compact disc) professionally. The first thing I notice about a recording is the artwork. If the artwork is poor then I don't expect much of the music either. So if you've taken the time to make some quality metal, then take the time to create some stellar artwork. Even though it's a trite expression, it is sadly true none the less, first impressions do make a difference.
4) Let me know which track(s) you want pushed. When I hear a really good quality recording I want to report it to The Progressive Airplay Journel, which has a LOUD chart for metal, hardcore, industrial and punk music. So if you already know about the PAJ and are sending many copies of your disc to radio stations that report to the PAJ, then let me know which particluar songs you want me to report and push to the audience of Heaven's Metal.
5) Be open to criticism and suggestions. If you want me to tell you what I think of your music, I will. I'll be honest and up front. It may take me a while (sometimes a long while) but I will get back with you on your music. And if I have some suggestions don't think I'm telling you how to make music, I want to see every metal band be all they can be.
