Sheila's Shimmery Tag

Shimmery Tag

I was playing around with filters
and came up with this effect.

What you will need:

Paint Shop Pro

Designer Sextet
(We will be using the Twist filter. It is included in Designer Sextet).

Filter Factory J

First we will make the background.

Open any jpg image. Just make sure it is big enough for a tag.
I would suggest any thing over 300 x 300.
You can resize it later.

Type Shift + D to duplicate.

Close the original.

Go to effects, plugin filters, flaming pear, twist.

Use the following settings.

Then go to effects, plugin filters, Filter Factory J, Whirl Blur.

Lower the opacity to about 50.

Add a New Layer.

Move the new layer to the bottom.

Flood fill with color of your choice.
Make a note of this color, we will need it later.

Layers, merge, merge visible.

Next, go to effects, Illumination Effects, Sunburst.

Now go to effects, texture effects, mosaic antique.

WaLah! You have a beautiful, shimmery background.

Now open a tube that you would like to use on your background.

Edit copy, make your background the active image, edit paste as new layer.

If necessary, use the deformation tool to adjust the size of your tube layer.

Then go to effects, sharpen, sharpen.

Add a drop shadow.

Add a new layer.

Make your foreground color null.

Make your background color the same that you used to flood fill with.

Click on your text tool and type in your text.

While still selected, apply the Sunburst effect using the same settings.

Then apply the Mosaic Antique again using the same settings.

Apply a drop shadow. I used these settings.

Selections, select none.

Now use your crop tool to crop any excess from your image.

Go to layers, merge, merge visible.

Ok, now go to image, add border and add a 3 pixel, symmetric border.

Select the border with your magic wand tool.

Go to effects, 3D effects, inner bevel and apply the metallic preset.

Selections, select none.

Add another border of 8 and select it with the magic wand.

Apply the same mosaic antique setting as before. Select none.

Change your background color to White or a light color from your image.

Add another 3 pixel border, select with the magic wand.

Apply the same inner bevel. Select none.

Switch the background color back to the one you were using.

Add another 3 pixel border, select with the magic wand.

Apply the same inner bevel and select none.

Resize your image to a nice size for a tag.

And be sure to sharpen after resize.

That's it! You are done!

Hope you enjoyed this tut.

Here is another one that I did.
