"MERRY CHRISTMAS DAD"
Patrick E. Scott
"Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also. John 14:1-3
Christmas 2003 will be our first Christmas without dad. This year he will be spending Christmas with the Lord. I'm sure it will feel different without dad but we have our memories. Dad was always the center of attention during this time of year especially when it came to getting Christmas gifts. He never hesitated to let everyone know what he wanted for Christmas. It's a wonder he didn't receive the same items from all four of us kids and mom! He was like a big kid when it came to opening his gifts. We will miss him this year as the family gathers around the tree on Christmas Eve to open gifts.
Once he opened his gifts then he would sit back and enjoy the family opening their packages. He always had a big smile on his face and a twinkle in his eyes. Like I said he was like a big overgrown kid when it came to Christmas. He loved having his family around him...especially the little ones.
He was the first one to finish eating so that the gift opening could begin. We would have to eat quickly or he would be on our case to hurry up and get to the living room. The funny thing was that he sampled the meal while it was being prepared and by the time we were ready to eat he didn't want much because he had been eating all day. He sure could put the deviled eggs away.
One year my husband was carving the turkey and he asked dad what part of the turkey he wanted. Jokingly dad said, "Give me the leg." I wish you could have seen dad's face when Barry put that big ole turkey leg on his plate! By the way...he ate the whole leg!
He was really good at keeping secrets. One year my husband bought me a leather jacket and asked dad to hide it and not to mention Barry had been there. Throughout the years I would ask dad about Barry hiding my jacket at his house that Christmas and to the very end he denied Barry ever being there.
I see the countless Christmas trees Click on the ornament to see my other pages.

"FIRST CHRISTMAS IN HEAVEN"
around the world below
With tiny lights, like Heaven's stars,
reflecting on the snow .
The sight is so spectacular,
please wipe away the tear
For I am spending Christmas with
Jesus Christ this year.
I hear the many Christmas songs
that people hold so dear
But the sounds of music can't compare
with the Christmas choir up here.
I have no words to tell you,
the joy their voices bring,
For it is beyond description,
to hear the angels sing.
I know how much you miss me,
I see the pain inside your heart.
But I am not so far away,
We really aren't apart.
So be happy for me, dear ones,
You know I hold you dear.
And be glad I'm spending Christmas
with Jesus Christ this year.
I sent you each a special gift,
from my heavenly home above.
I sent you each a memory
of my undying love.
After all, love is a gift more precious
than pure gold.
It was always most important
in the stories Jesus told.
Please love and keep each other,
as my Father said to do.
For I can't count the blessing or love
he has for each of you.
So have a Merry Christmas and
wipe away that tear.
Remember, I am spending Christmas with
Jesus Christ this year.
