Mother's Day

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Have you heard the saying " A Mother's Work Is Never Done"? This Mother's Day why not thank that special mother in your life for all she's done for you. She might be your mother or you're mother-in-law or even a close friend. The main thing is to let her know how much you appreciate her.

"KEEPER OF THE LITTLE ONES"

Keeper of the little ones might be her title,
Of all the roles in life hers is best.
To know the joy of holding each new-born,
To cradle the downy head against her breast.
And though her heart is filled to overflowing,
She lifts her heart and prays:"Dear Lord above,
I'll need you more than ever now, Your heart's
Very wisdom, and something of your love.
These little ones you gave me are so precious,
'Tis mine to guide and mold them in your way.
Without your help I scarce would know how
So keep your arms around us night and day."

The years rush by, the tasks, the duties many,
'Twas rightly said, her work is never done
She watches o'er them, her fair daughters,
And treasures every hour with fine young sons.
Clear as a bell the sound of their laughter,
And loud the wail of their childish woe,
So happy the heart of the busy Mother
As strong and straight their bodies grow.

As her children give their hearts to Jesus
The joy within her life is deep.
But if one but remains outside his fold
She bows her head in prayer and weeps.
"Dear Lord, to have your arms arund my two
or three, 'tis good, but not enough.
This little one also needs your love
The miracle of your touch.
I shall not cease to pray, I shall not rest,
Till all are safely in your fold
By you are blest."

When life is done, her virgil here ends,
This one reward she would covet at God's throne
To hear him say,"Keeper of the Little Ones,
They shall ever remain Mine and yours,
You have guided them safely home."

A woman that feareth the Lord shall be praised.
Give her the fruit of her hands;
and let her own works praise her in the gates.
PROVERBS 31:30~31

The first Mother's Day celebration in the United States took place in 1907, in a small church in West Virginia at the urging of Anna M. Jarvis. Anna's own mother had passed away several years earlier. Her dream was to reunite the families divided by the Civil War with a day dedicated to mothers. It was a special service arranged by Anna to honor the memory of her own mother. The idea quickly caught on, and in 1914 Woodrow Wilson declared the second Sunday of May to be the official Mother's Day.

"THINGS MY MOTHER SAID"
How many of these sayings have you heard from your mother?

Shut your mouth and eat.
Do you think money grows on trees?
As long as you live under my roof, you'll do as I say.
So it's raining? You're not sugar. You won't melt.
Whenever you leave the house, put a dime in your shoe in case you need to call home.
Put that down! You don't know where it's been!
Don't cross your eyes or they might freeze that way.
Don't sit too close to the television, it'll ruin your eyes.
Don't put beans up your nose.
Why don't you go out and play in the traffic?
If a thing is worth doing, it is worth doing well.
Horses sweat, men perspire, ladies glow.
Always put on clean underwear in the morning, in case Never say "shut up," say "be quiet."
Don't say "no", say, "I'd rather not."
Close the door behind you. You weren't born in a barn were you?
Never answer the phone on the first ring.
Eat all your food. There's starving children who would love your beans.
You can't start the day on an empty stomach.
It'll never get well if you pick it.
Two wrongs don't make a right.
The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
You can't judge a book by its cover.
It's no use crying over spilt milk.
You can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear.
You catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.
Little pitchers have big ears.
If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT MOTHERS

Gen 3:20 Adam named his wife Eve, because she would become the mother of all the living.
Exo 20:12 "Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the LORD your God is giving you.
Lev 19:3 "'Each of you must respect his mother and father, and you must observe my Sabbaths. I am the LORD your God.
Deu 5:16 "Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the LORD your God is giving you.
2 Ki 4:30 But the child's mother said, "As surely as the LORD lives and as you live, I will not leave you." So he got up and followed her.
Prov 10:1 The proverbs of Solomon: A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish son grief to his mother.
Isa 66:13 As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you; and you will be comforted over Jerusalem."
Ezek 16:44 "'Everyone who quotes proverbs will quote this proverb about you: "Like mother, like daughter."
Luke 1:43 But why am I so favored, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
Luke 2:51 Then he went down to Nazareth with them and was obedient to them. But his mother treasured all these things in her heart.
John 19:26-27 When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, "Dear woman, here is your son," and to the disciple, "Here is your mother." From that time on, this disciple took her into his home.

My husband and I are so blessed to have had both of our mothers for so long. But they are both gone now. I see so many who have already lost their mother and some who are not even in contact with their mother. This Mother's Day please reach out to your mother and let her know that you love her. You will only have one mother and you need to thank the Lord for her. I know many have been hurt but the Lord used her to bring you into this world and because of that you need to thank Him by reaching out to her if possible.

I want to send a special prayer to the Lord thanking him for blessing us with wonderful mothers. On this Mother's Day we still feel the love they shared with us throughout the years. I dedicate this page to my mother, June Scott and my mother-in-law,Laura Wagner on this Mother's Day.

Happy Mother's Day wishes go out to my beautiful daughter, Laura, and my lovely daughter-in-law, Sandy, who blessed us with six wonderful grandchildren. Thank you and God Bless both of you. Happy Mother's Day!
