CHRISTMAS

"The Manger Child"

There must have been a hush o'er all the world
The night that Christ was born;
A faint stirring of hope in hearts of men
Long weary from bondage, sad, sin-torn.

From lonely Judean hillsides
To the far reaches of earth's span,
A presence felt in places shadow-dim
To wretched hovel and palace grand.

What manner of Child this,
In lowly manger bed,
To bring Shepherds from their lonely watch,
To offer praise with bowed-down heads?

Ushered in by Angel's voice
And wonderous heavenly glow,
While stars across the dark, night sky
Shone brighter, nearer than before.

What Child this? Heaven's Own,
Sent from God's heart of love this night,
To bring a world of darkness
Into the light of life.

To walk in paths of mortal man,
Know weariness and pain,
To understand his human frailty
And become, in death, his sacrifice for sin.

Near 2000 years hence men look by faith
To a manger cradling redemption's Lamb,
And in love and humble adoration bow.
Surely there is a hush o'er all the world again.

Thank you Mozelle for this beautiful reminder.
