When serpents hiss,
And the Heavens appear brass,
And I cannot see anymore,
I cling to the hem of Your garment, Lord
Needing You more than before.
It is easy when my spirit soars
Communing with your truth,
But in this land where shadows dwell,
I feel the lion's tooth.
This is a place of darkness,
Did the devil put me here,
Or have I gone astray?
I must trust in Your promise, God
Your mercies are new every day.
In one hand I hold your word
While hearing "Has God REALLY said?"
Thoughts! Cease and desist
Darkness, you are a fleeting thing
In this swirling sea of strife
I reach my hand toward You Lord
And this day I choose LIFE.
So let your word have its perfect work
In me and those nearby
I go into my chamber now
Until Your wrath is spent.
I know that my redeemer lives
And I shall stand with him
The vision is in His hands
As Isaac was laid upon the altar
His descendants would be as the sands.
So to all of this I say
All His promises are yes and amen;
The word will not fade away!
