ALL-SCHOOL REUNION PLANS
(2001)
Goin’ for More in 2004
from
the ELHSAA website
Even though we are three years
away from our next all-class reunion, we have begun planning for
the event. Our goal is to eliminate some hassles for both the committee
and attendees. One of the biggest concerns with these events is “party
crashers.” These are the folks who do not buy tickets but make their way
into events anyway. This creates frustration for our hard-working
committees and animosity between people. Our solution for this is to attempt
to have corporate sponsors for the events, or have a fee at the door of
the event that everyone would have to pay in order to enter.
We plan to again have the “big
top tent” at some location on Broadway, but we will probably eliminate
the chicken dinner in favor of another plan. We are discussing having food
vendors come in with their trailers with a variety of foods available.
The tent will be available with tables and chairs for a gathering spot
and eating. This way, you will be able to choose both what you eat and
when you eat. This also should help alleviate the long waits for food.
We also are discussing placing
the staging area for the Saturday evening program on the Tower lawn with
a smaller stage. This is still in the planning stage, so more will follow
on this.
Finally, as has been reported
before, we have started a “reunion fund” that we have been steadily building
up to pay for the event. It takes a lot of money to stage the affair. We
hope that with this budget move we will have enough funds available to
handle all the expenses of the reunion.
We remain open to suggestions.
