Did you know that. . .
While doing a Google search, I came across the following:
While doing a Google search, I came across the following:
. . . a licensed architect in California and other states. A graduate of Kent State University School of Architecture and Boston University, Robert taught at the Boston Architectural Center for many years and has years of professional practice. Many of his projects received design awards.” . . (Complete story)
While doing a Google search, I came across the following:
. . . “It was about 8:54 on Tuesday . . . her mother, Jana Crawford, wrote. “I was running late for work and had my hand on the doorknob when the telephone rang. Should I answer or let the machine pick up? I was late but answered it anyway. I could hear labored breathing and what sounded like footsteps running.” . . (Complete story)
While doing a Google search, I came across the following:
. . . In our retirement, (we) are enjoying the rewards of community service through our Lions Club. We raise puppies (to be) trained as service dogs for clients free of charge. Our first puppy, Mercer, is a celebrity as the title character in a series of six childrens' books written by the young girl who received him as her service dog. You can find more about him at www.marvelousmercer.com . . . The world is a fascinating place and everyone should strive to see as much of it as they can..” . . (Complete story)
John,
. . . I am still teaching high school Intensive English in Lam Lu Kha, Thailand (a northern suburb of Bangkok) and will retire to the Philippines next year.
Oh, and thank you for all you do for the class!!!
Warm regards,
Dave Martin
Thanks John. Great historical review of CS. Looks like it did when we were there. I can see Bob Kelly sliding down that bannister like it was yesterday!
John,
You brought back soooo many good memories ... I was Keramos Echo Editor my Senior year (1964-65) and we were indeed right next door to Nancy Stanley and her KERAMOS Yearbook crew. We never felt in competition, since our efforts were so different. I had THE best staff (Lois Berman, MaryAnn McKeever, Betsy Broomhall and others I can't immediately recall); we also had great advisors: Ira Sayre (when I first joined the newspaper staff), then later Mr. Crugnale (from Mingo Junction).
Ira Sayre headed The Fourth Estate - journalism club - where I learned (and psychologists have confirmed) that eye witnesses are not always a reliable source for accuracy in news reporting or court-rooms. He once staged a fake robbery - where someone came in and robbed him - then we had to described the thief, how the turn of events occurred, etc. There were at least 10 different versions. And to think now I write reports to insurance co's so patients can have benefits and authorized mental health services .... pretty good training!!
Thank God we still have our beloved TOWER from Central. I was in American History class (where the paint chips fell f om the ceiling) the day we got the news that JFK had been shot and killed (the day beforeThanksgiving ... what a horrible weekend!).
Thanks for sharing that link!! Take Care & Peace .... Jane Boram in Nashville
John,
I was trying find something else about Don Eckert and ran into this site. You may have seen it in the past but first time for me. Many of the post cards were made by the Don Eckert Studio. This looks like a CSU site.

Thanks for posting that great picture. I presume that was the big snow storm of 1950? It looks like the picture was taken from the upper floor of central fire station looking north to the foot of St. Clair Ave. The gas station on the corner hadn’t been built yet.
I remember seeing the National Guard out clearing the streets with tanks & road graders during that big snow. It looks a lot like what I see out my window right now. We had anywhere from 18 to 24 inches of snow Saturday. Thankfully, my neighbor has a snow blower & we’ve cleared our driveways & sidewalks, but it’s going to take a while for the area to dig out of this one.
May you & your loved ones enjoy a blessed and joyous Christmas this year and a very happy and prosperous new year!
As for me, I’m heading to Egypt right after Christmas. We’ve always wanted to see the pyramids, so this is the year. It’s our 40th anniversary trip.
After Egypt we’ll come back to Virginia & pack up the motor home then head west. We’re going to spend about six weeks on the road this winter, mostly in Mesa, AZ. Hopefully, we won’t have to contend with any snow out there!
Thanks so much for all the work you do to keep ELHS ’65 together again & always.
Peace & Love & Happiness always,
Jim
Barely a week goes by when someone from our past does not, say or do something nice. Yesterday, that someone was Karen Gamble. You are just a click away from seeing what she did
I will post this picture on our Facebook Page. If you would like a copy, please e-mail me, and I will contact Karen, if you would like to have a copy.
See you soon,
John
Tony Danzo
He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes had a familiar fragrance, . . . a Chardonnay???.
Nary a bundle of toys he had flung on his back,
But he looked like a peddler, just opening his pack.
His eyes-how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a bright, red cherry!
His little mouth was drawn up . . . from the Sherry?
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow.
The stump of a cork he held tight in his teeth,
And the aroma of wine encircled his head like a wreath.
He had a broad face and a little round belly,
That shook when he laughed, like a bowlful of jelly!
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself!
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread.
He listen to many a request from those who sat on his on lap,
And smoothed their stockings, all the while with a little smirk.
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose!
Many thanks to Marianne Emmerling's husband Ron for surprising the kids in all of us with the jolly, old guy. . . and for playing Santa.
Although our February dinner is scheduled
for the ELO Motor Lodge, we may have something of adventure instead. We
may have the opportunity to have dinner at a place where our present
will meet our past as well as giving us a glimpse of our future!!! . .
. and bring a lot of smiles to some folks!!!
Our January dinner will be at Casa de Emanuel in ELO on January 17. We
will meet at 6:00 PM, dinner will be served at 6:30 PM.
Stay safe - - hope to see you soon,
John
