FAR AWAY LETTER

I heard the postman come today,
And rushed outside to see,
If I had gotten a letter,
From you, my love, to me.
But when I opened it I saw,
That it was not the same,
That this was not your writing,
But in it was your name.
I read a little further,
And then became aware,
That you had died four days ago,
In battle--over there.
I don't know why you had to leave,
Or why I must go on,
But I will always cherish you,
No matter where you've gone.
I love you dear, thats all that counts,
From one day to another,
And you will always be my love,
And live with me forever.
Have faith in me my darling,
No matter where you are,
And know that I'll be with you,
Someday, beyond the stars.
