When I was walking home one
night,
I heard a small child praying,
I stopped to hear his tiny
voice,
And listen to what he was
saying.
He was kneeling by a little
box,
And in his hand was holding,
A tiny little figure of a
shepard.
He ask God if he could see his
daddy,
Since it was Christmas Eve,
And said, "It's been such a
long time
Since I've seen mommy smiling.
"God, please let my daddy come,
And be here with my mommy,
Because she's sick and I'm
afraid,
That inside she is dying."
So, before you take my mommy
too,
Would you let daddy come with
you,
So she can hold his hand and
then,
My mom will be with dad again.
I hope you can answer my prayer
tonight,
And if you do I'll say,
"God, I hope you'll take me
too,
With you soon, someday."
I want to join them badly,
Because I love them so,
That it would break my heart,
Well, I guess I'd better go.
So goodnight God, and thank
you,
For listening to my prayer,
And if you want me to do
anything for you,
Just call me, with mommy, up
there.
After he had finished his
prayer,
I saw him slowly rise,
And walk down a lonely road,
Till he was out of sight.
I pulled a cloth out of my
purse,
To wipe the tears away,
Then I too said a little
prayer,
Please, let this be---someday.
