My name is Mona, at one time I was called Mom. The gentleman that we are with
changed it to Mona because Mom wasn’t really needed anymore.
I came into being on December 4, 1975, when a nurse put a beautiful baby girl into my
arms. The love for this child was so intense that it took on a new meaning to me. I became the
protector of this little girl and a little later on of her little sister.
I learned how to cook, and clean and do laundry. I took care of all the little hurts and
later on in their lives the big heartaches.
I watched and loved and did all the things a mother should do. All the other alters loved
the girls also but I was Mom.
I saw a need in other young people that needed some mom loving also, so I took some of
them in, not to raise but to be their friend, confident and to give them advice. A lot of these
young people called me Mom II, not to replace their real mothers but to be a back up when their
real mother was at work or unreachable.
Both of my girls are grown now and I am a Grandma. I still worrying over them, share
my recipes with them and cry with them when something or someone hurts them. We are
separated by many miles, but we talk on the phone and sometimes ,when we can afford it, we
visit.
My gentleman is right, I am not needed anymore but I still love my girls so I stick around
to see them and talk to them when I can.
My name is Mona and I made a difference and I have a right to be.
