As the light of the new morning peered through the open door of the balcony, Kevin slowly became awake. His eyes fluttered open as he took stock of his surroundings as he remembered where he was and what happened the night before. Smiling in remembrance he turned over to his side and reached out to Lily.
He sat up in alarm and apprehension coiled in his chest as he realized he was alone. Again.
He quickly got out of bed and slid into his gray sweat pants he was wearing the night before. Kevin tried to ignore and didn't understand why his heart was beating a mile a minute when he thought of Lily leaving him again. It's because I'm terrified of never seeing my son again he reasoned. He didn't mention to himself that he was almost equally terrified of never seeing Lily again.
His steps slowed as he walked down the short hallway and neared the small kitchen. There he heard the sounds and smelled the smells of breakfast cooking. Leaning up against the wall, he breathed a sigh of relief and then quietly entered the kitchen. Upon entrance he was greeted with a lovely view of Lily, in her short, tight pajama shorts and tight tank top, bending over to check on something in the oven. Kevin smiled as he thought that she had to have the longest, sexiest legs he'd ever seen in his life.
She stood up and closed the oven door and Kevin silently walked the few steps over to her. He felt he jump in surprise when he wrapped his arms around her waist, his hands resting on her flat stomach. "Good morning." he murmured against her neck as he place soft kisses there.
Lily raised her hand and placed it on the side of Kevin's face as he kissed her neck. Turning in his arms, she grasped him around the neck and brought his lips down to hers in a passionate kiss.
Kevin groaned and moved closer to her. Putting a hand to her leg and lifted her until she was sitting on the counter top. He broke off the kiss to look down at her legs which were now wrapped around his waist. "Lily..." he breathed "Damn, I love your legs." He then brought his lips back to hers in another scorching kiss.
Kevin's lips left hers briefly to travel down her neck and place soft kisses along her almost bare shoulder. His mouth had just moved back up her neck when his head snapped up and he looked into her eyes. "What's that smell?" he asked her.
"The toast." she said uninterestingly, leaning forward to nibble on his ear. "It's burning."
She stopped nibbling on his ear when she felt and heard his deep, rumbling laughter. Sitting up, she looked into his amused eyes.
"Is something funny, Mr. Richardson?" she asked him sarcastically.
Picking up her hand and placing a small kiss on her palm, he answered "Yes it is, Mrs. Richardson." Lily became serious as she realized that now she was truly his wife, Mrs. Richardson. Kevin didn't seem to notice her seriousness as he moved away from her and went to open the oven door.
"No, Kevin don't!" she tried to stop him but he already had the door open and smoke billowing out, immediately causing the smoke alarm to go off.
"Shit!" Kevin exclaimed as he tried to fan the smoke out of the kitchen. Lily hopped down off of the counter and immediately went to the front door to try and air out the room a little bit. When she re-entered the kitchen she found Kevin standing on a chair trying to get the smoke alarm to quit going off. Trying not to laugh at the comical scene he presented, cursing at the smoke alarm, Lily pulled up another chair and tried to help him disable the alarm.
Finally, Lily found a small button in the back of the alarm and pushed it, causing the alarm to stop sounding.
"Good." Kevin said, hopping down from the chair and walking over to her, still standing on the chair. He grinned up at her as he slid his arms around her waist.
"What's going on in here?"
At the sound of the voice they both turned toward the entrance of the kitchen to see AJ and Brian standing there. AJ was shirtless and wearing a pair of silky black pajama bottoms and Brian was wearing a pair of jogging pants similar to the ones Kevin was wearing only he had on a wifebeater with it.
"Hi guys." Kevin said nonchalantly, not letting go of Lily.
"We heard your smoke alarm going off." Brian said.
"Yeah, and then we saw all the smoke coming into the hallway we figured you two had set the whole place on fire." AJ finished for him.
"Nope. Just a little burnt toast." Kevin said, pointing toward the oven where the burnt toast still sat.
AJ and Brian looked toward the oven and tried not to laugh when they saw the black toast sitting on the rack in the oven.
AJ, with his mouth twitching in the effort not to laugh out loud, said "Kev... what have we told you about that? No more attempts at cooking without supervision." He and Brian busted out laughing and then quickly scurried out of the kitchen, barely dodging the piece of burnt toast that was thrown at them.
