Ministry
- provides food and
fellowship to downtown Beckley
-
- Through combining the
efforts of local churches and individuals with time and
financial support we are able to open the facilities of Jacob's
Ladder, located at 113 South Heber Street, to
provide a place where the people of downtown Beckley can
receive food and fellowship.
These people can feel the true love of Jesus Christ as
they enter in to a safe haven, removed from the pressures
faced on the streets.
Currently an average of 90 to 125 people are having needs
met in an open, caring, non-judgemental
atmosphere.
All who enter are received equally, whether those who
work in downtown businesses to some who have just arrived
into Beckley and have not had a meal in three or four
days.
No one who enters is charged any fee for the meals they
may receive. However, if one desires to give a donation,
it is accepted so that one more may be taken care of at a
later date.
Donations in the form of volunteers and finances are
currently needed.
The soup kitchen recently opened on Tuesdays to great
success. This results from outlying churches in the
Beckley area desiring to provide for those in need. The
Thursday soup kitchen will soon celebrate its one year
birthday and has grown from fifteen recipients per week
to over 100 per week.
If you have felt God's call to assist those who cannot
help themselves maybe you are the one needed to volunteer
your time to show the love of Christ Jesus by working as
a volunteer at the Bread of Life Ministries soup kitchen.
Or, if you are unable to give of your time, maybe you are
able to help financially.
Financial contributions may be made to WaterBearer
Missions, a non-profit, non-denominational 501 (C) (3)
ministry. If you give financially, please note you would
desire your funds to go to the Bread of Life Ministry.
This is a designated giving ministry and all funds
donated for this project are used solely for the purpose
of feeding those in need. No funds are used for any other
purpose.
Your sister in Christ Jesus,
Christy Bahr, Director
Bread of Life Ministry
