Jane Woodward
Jane Woodward was the daughter of Richard and Jane Woodward. Richard arrived ca. 1687, and on March 6, 1687 purchased land in Thornbury Twp from John Simcock. He came from England with his brother Robert, and brother-in-law Thomas Eavenson, who was married to Elizabeth Woodward (and had, in England, been married to a Hannah Woodward, in all probability Elizabeth's sister). The parish records of Acton, in Cheshire, England contain the death of a Hannah Woodward and infant daughter, so after the death of his wife, Thomas may well have married his sister-in-law. Elizabeth's birth is recorded on Nov. 17, 1663 as the daughter of Edward Woodward. It is believed that Richard is the progenitor of all the Chester County Woodwards.
Thomas Eavenson also bought land from John Simcock, and for a time he and Elizabeth lived near her brothers in Chester Twp, but later moved to New Castle County, DE.
Richard Woodward died Oct. 7, 1706, at Middletown, Chester County, Pennsylvania, and daughter Jane died ca. 1737.
