The season ended for the Lady Indians last night at the hands of a Superior Mercer Christian team 62-39. They did not go quietly into the night. After Mercer Christian had a white hot first quarter Oceana played them even for the rest of the game. The first quarter defecit was just to much to overcome.
Coach Larry Mathis and the Indian team had a wonderful season finishing with a 17-7 record.
The team is only graduating two seniors, Kristi Morgan and Jessica Worrell and will be merging with Baileysville High next year and the future looks bright for the New Westside High Lady Renegades..
Sophmore Shena Toler had an outstanding game vs Mercer Christian as did Kristi Morgan.
What the Lady Indians lacked in raw talent they made up with hustle and determination.
I have only just become a fan of Oceana Basketball but I can assure you that next year I will be back in the stands cheering on the Westside High Renegades.
The town of Oceana and Wyoming County can be PROUD of this years LADY INDIANS....Just my thoughts, Carl
