Painted Hair using Brushes

Here's what you will need:
Paint Shop Pro

Hair Zip

I do not know who made these brushes for the hair.
I made the blonde hair pattern.

Extract the hair.zip to your PSP Brushes Folder.

The blonde_hair_sb.jpg file can be moved to a folder of your choice.

Open a new image, about 400 x 400.

Open blonde_hair_sb.jpg and set it as your pattern.

Set your paintbrush to custom and choose tp_MangaHair2
with the following settings:

Apply the paintbrush several times moving it slightly to the left and right
till you get it fairly solid with not many blank spaces.

Switch to your burn brush

Again load the tp_MangaHair2 brush and use the following settings:

Here again apply the brush and move it around till you get the look you want.

You do not need to worry about getting outside the pattern.
It will only apply to the pattern.

Duplicate the layer and change to the dodge brush.

Use the following settings:

Apply the brush same as before.

Layers, merge, merge visible.

Go back to your paint brush, same settings but change to a solid color. I used #D08F64.

This time, don't make it quite as solid. Leave some of the blonde showing through.

This is what we have so far:

Go to Selections, Select All, Selections, Float.

Then choose your smudge brush,

using the following settings and smudge the brown into the blonde,
leaving blonde streaks showing through.

Selections, select none.

Go back to your burn brush and apply again. Here is where you will really see it taking shape.

When you get the look you want, duplicate the layer, change to the dodge brush and apply same as before.

Layers, Merge, Merge Visible.

At this point you may want to zoom in, see if there are any areas at the edges of the hair that you don't like.
If so, you can remove them with the eraser tool. Use a small size so you can get in to close areas.

Or you can use your smudge brush again to blend some areas.
Just be careful not to smudge too much or you will lose your detail.

When satisfied, duplicate the layer. Go to Image, Mirror.

With your mover tool, move the new layer into position so that it will frame the "face".

Layers, Merge, Merge Visible. And there is your hair.

Crop your image and save as pspimage.

You can also add bangs with the tp_MangaBangs brush.
