Tut Nut's Special Days Calendar

Special Days Calendar

We will be making a printable calendar like
the one you see here.

I have one similar to this. That's where I got the idea.
Sorry this doesn't show very good.
I had to resize it considerably because of load time.

What you will need:
Paint Shop Pro 7
This grid
Optional: If you want to use my blank pre-made
calendar instead of making your own Click Here

Ok, here we go:

If you are working on the pre-made one, skip to the "Decorate It" heading below.
It is typed in red so you can spot it easy.

If you want to make your own dates and months start here.

Open lines85%.psp

Go to edit, copy.

Open New Image 612 x 792 transparent.

Go to edit, paste as new layer.

Move close to the bottom of your image and center it horizontally.

Click on View, Normal to zoom in on the image.

Add a new layer.
Select your text tool

I used Invitation font size 18.

Of course you may change the font, color and size to your liking.

Type in the number 1. Click OK. Move to the first position beside the first row of blocks.

I am only showing part of the image here

Selections, select none.

Continue in this manner until you have 31 days listed.

Remember to add each one on a new layer in case you need to move it.

Once you have them all in place, turn off layer 1 and layer 2

Go to layers, merge, merge visible.

Turn all layers back on.

Ok, now lets add our months.

We will do this the same way as above except add your months across the top.

Remember to put each one on a separate layer.

It should look something like this:

Turn off layer 1 and go to layers, merge, merge visible.

Save this as a psp file so you can use it for more calendars later.
It would be a good idea now to type shift+D to copy and close your original.

Decorate It

If you are starting here, open your specialdays.psp file.

Now that the months and days are added the calendar looks off center.

Use your mover tool to move it over some to center it horizontally.

Select one of the lines in your graph with the magic wand.

Go to selections, invert.

Go to your layer palette and add a new layer. Move it below your merged layer.

Now click on your flood fill tool and fill with color of your choice.
I used #99BDBD. Selections, select none.

Turn on Layer 1 and make it the active layer.

Flood fill with color of your choice.
I used #D8E8E8.

Go to Effects, Texture Effects, Texture. And use these settings:

*The texture was #51 on my list. Yours may be different.

Or experiment and use a different texture if you want.

Ok, go back to layer 2 and add a new layer.

Here we will add the words "Special Days".

Click on your text tool and type Special Days.

I used Invitation font size 36.

Now you need to select the tubes you would like to use on your calendar.

Add a new layer for each tube that you use.

I used this little bear because he looked suitable for any occasion.

Then I duplicated the layer and went to image, mirror.

When you are finished, go to layers merge, merge all, flatten.

Save as a jpg file and you are finished.....

Unless you want to go ahead and add your names.

If you do, here are the settings that I used:

By using vector text, each name will go on its own layer
so that you can move it and/or resize it easily.
You can also hold down your shift key and use your arrow keys to move it around.

Go to your layer palette, right click and
select convert to raster layer when finished with each name.

Merge all when you are finished and print.

To print from psp, go to file, page setup, with these settings:

These make great gifts!
