Earl Lucas, 1971 Principal at Van Grade, wrote: "As we as individuals strive to better ourselves, let us not lose sight of the need to make our world a better place for all mankind. Although you may consider your contribution a meager one, don't hesitate to offer it; for whether the footsteps that you leave are large or small, they certainly must fit someone following behind you." Many students have passed through the doors at Van Elementary since Mr. Lucas wrote those memorable words and we would like to share some of the many experiences at Van Elementary through a gallery of older photographs for "a picture is worth a thousand words."
